Thanks a lot. It was so simple and worked perfectly.

Thanks for the idea’s but I seem to have discovered the problem. It seems its a problem with Sony Vegas (Pro 13) as when I turned the CPU off, it worked and didn’t crash as before. By the way I’m using Windows 7 64 bit with bags of Ram. Thanks again

Thanks Mark, I have now removed the Media Markers and rather me type the info again I have replied to other helpful suggestions regarding the sound level issue.

Thanks for the input Graham, before I normalise the meter shows barely 48 but after between 12 and 24 and louder. Right clicking the meter shows it set at 0 – 60. Also the puzzling thing is when clips from a HDV camera are on the same timeline the HDV cam clips sound waves are normal whereas the EX clips remain flat. Even after normalising the EX clip and opening it in Sound Forge the sound waves are not visible (but the sound is). After ensuring that “Import MXF as Multichannel” was checked I have four sound channels instead of two (I normally import stereo as two mono channels. I have tried recording with the level wheels on the EX to near max but the sound waves are still not visible. My brain hurts!!

Thanks John but I tried increasing the level wheels on the camera to near max but the result was the same. The VU meter after right clicking shows 0-60.

Thanks Grazie, but as far as I know I am using the latest version (486 – 64bit) Among the things I have tried is to remove and replace VP12 but the problem is still the same. Barry D
