Probably because that works without having to change the blend mode. Works fine. Until you want to add effects to the lens flare.

Apply the lensflare to a black solid. Set blend mode to “screen”. Blur the lensflare.

Although the timestamp of my other post seems to say otherwise (different timezone) my guess above was before this link was posted…
It’s all Trapcode as far as I can see.
The particles doing a ‘swirly’ wave could be turbulence within the Particular plugin. You’d also be able to do it by applying Turbulent Displace on top of the particles though.
As for animating the particles to form text. This tutorial will help.
The light rays are Trapcode Shine.
The animated lines in the end are Trapcode 3D Stroke.
Hope this helps.

And how many more hours did that project take? If your clients think they can compare Premiere to an Autodesk Smoke then they are not very educated with post production.”Apples and oranges really. But it’s quite common even in high-end post facilies to have the option between costly “real-time” hardware and substantially less costly “desktop solutions”. If you spend 200k on a Smoke system you know you’ll need to get your rates up.
So even if a project takes more hours on a Premiere or FCP system (and depending on the type of project it doesn’t have to be the case), it could still be at lower cost.
Now if a project needs to be finished yesterday, this would influence the decision to go with one system over the other. But I’d hate to be editing a 90 minute documentary on a Smoke… Well, my wallet would hate it.

Instead of creating these separate layers, you could start over and use the Card Dance plugin. It will allow you to use a video layer, divide it into cards and animate the cards on the Z plane – in just one single plug-in.
It’s an older plug-in with it’s limitations (no shadows for instance) – and less control over individual cards. But it sounds like it would do exactly what you need it to do.

This is fun 🙂

January 7, 2007 at 12:11 am in reply to: How to render movie for film output anamorphic 2.35:1?[nsnaveen] “what if he is projecting it from a vedioprojector.
can we use pal dvd 16.9 widescreen render for vedioprojection?”That would work.
The issue with video projection is that you need to know what source they will use to feed the projector. This can be anything from a DVD player to a computer playing a quicktime or a high-end frameserver to feed a 4k projector…
But if they are playing back on a DVD player, that’s what you need to deliver.

January 5, 2007 at 3:09 pm in reply to: How to render movie for film output anamorphic 2.35:1?Hi Naveen,
They (I assume it’s your client) asked for a version for theater output?
Did they specify whether it will be screened on a videoprojector, or an actual film print?
So you recreated the project in anamorphic 2k at 24fps?
Most transferhouses can deal with a wide range of files, from tifs to dpx and sgi files. I usually render to a 16-bit tif sequence for transfer to film.
Make sure you include audio as a wav file of exactly the same length as the image sequence.

In that case I’d contact your transferhouse for their specs. I usually deliver 16-bit tifs, or sgi files.
