I would have set it the way you told me if client specify the animation to show on cinema. At the begining, the animation is just for tv broadcast. So I created the 2d animation with Photoshop and After Effects in just 720×576 resolution.

Argh.. might need to recreate the whole damn thing. Or I might just leave it like that, but vertical black stripes on left and right edges will be seen when projected in cinema.

Anyway, thanks for the advice.
