    Problem solved!
I had to turn off the “green light real time fx” button after rendering and then everything looked great. But…I’ve never had to do this before so I don’t know why, now, I’d have to turn in off to get a clean preview.

Let me add that the text looks correct inside the text tool (Boris or Avid). But the final result loses it’s crispness. I have white text on a blue background for one screen. In the text tool(s) everything looks great. On my computer monitor & TV monitor the white text seems to be absorbing the blue around it.

Hope somebody can help with this. Thanks..

I think your idea of putting the clip on the track above then sliding the head and tail a bit longer is the answer. I’ll try that and your other suggestion. Thanks!

    Here’s the problem…
I have a Boris Red 1 input effect on top of V1 in my TL. There are no other video tracks above this clip. Video one has plenty of media on either side of the in & out points and makes a lovely dissolve when there’s no Boris effect on it. It’s just a still image of a leaf with bugs on it.

I launch boris red and make the effect by importing another still image file with an alpha chanel (the bug killer product). The very first KF of this track has the product zoomed way in (making it really big and hanging off the screen). It then quickly zooms to a readable size.

I apply the effect & render within Avid. It plays smoothly from a “cut” but when I add a dissolve in front of the newly effected clip the product does like a “double-take.” The zoom starts then does a hiccup and starts again.

Do I need to leave 15 frames of “nothing” before starting an effect in boris?

Red 4.0 isn’t supported with Avid Xpress DV 3.5. This from the Boris team.

I am at Red 3.0.4. Red 4 kept crashing my system.

    I think I found it.
When I saw this at the site…

    “Red 3.04 update

This release adds support for the new Macintosh OS X 10.4.2 (Tiger) operating system, as well as significant bug fixes.”

I thought it was only for MAC but I see there is a PC link.

    Thank you

I went to the link but could not find the patch I need to take Red 3.0 (PC & Avid Xpress DV) to Red 3.04. I saw a patch for just about everything else.

Could you copy and paste the description of the exact patch I need in your next response?

    Thanks,
