  • Hey, there. Thanx for your help. I watched the tutorial and it’s been very helpful.
In my footage, the person’s hand is moving against a green bushy background, and the analyzer for motion tracking gets lost.
I had to analyze the movement of his finger manually frame by frame, moving the tracking cursor each time, to match his fingernail.
Is there a way to analyze it automatically, just like in Andrew’s tutorial, for footages like mine?

  • Thanks, Ben. I’m more of a visual learning person than a book learning person. Is there a tutorial on using a Motion Tracker?

Thanks everyone. Peter, you mention a waveform monitor on a NLE. Can one purchase a stand-alone monitor to plug the receiver in, in order to see if the levels are good.
Also, what do you mean by controlling the levels using pads? What are pads?

You’re right, according to one person at the Canopus Forum:
“I’m using the new adobe premiere pro (1.5) editing software and i have noticed the following problem. When I start a new project with DV Storm’s settings all the Premiere’s effects (like extract, channel mixer etc) are being previwed very slowly. It looks like i have a pentium 2 proseccor with 256 MB ram.”

If I had the money I’d just get the Edius NX with HD Expansion Kit, and save myself the headache.

Meanwhile. I’ll probably stick to upgrading to DVStorm 2 and use Premiere 6.5

I have a question about the Edius NLE software that you’re using.
Which version of Edius do you have?
Can the Xplode 4 and Hollywood FX be installed into the Edius transitions?

Also, so far, I used Storm Edit to capture into 2GB files. Then I’d import them into Premiere and work with them.
Which software allows you to work with AVI2 files? I.e. Do Premiere 6.5/Edius allow you to capture AVI files without limit?

    Thank you.

First of all, I’d like to thank all of you kindly for your input.
You’re right, Blast. I have the Original DVSTorm SE, not the DVStorm 2.
I’ve searched for hours today, and can’t seem to find it anywhere. It’s off the market.
If anyone knows where I can purchase just the Storm 2 software without PPro or anything else that usually comes prebundled with it, I’d truly appreciate it.

Storm 2 is available at e-bay at a high cost, which includes the hardware.
I already have the hardware, and just need the software update.
    It seems to be unavailable.

Thanx to David, I went to the Canopus Support site and had success with downloading the latest plugins.

According to the manual that came with the PPro 1.x v1.53 plugin

    Installation
One of the following Canopus DV products are required to install this package:
    DVRex-M1 with RT Option
    DVRex-RT
    DVRex-RT Professional
    DVStorm series
    DVStorm2 series

    Adobe Premiere Pro is required.

So, apparently the original DVStorm SE is supported.

But the big Q remains: are they just saying that, or am I actually going to have success using the original DVSTorm drivers if Storm 2 isn’t available.

    Thank you, Juergen.
What exactly is the Premiere plugin and the video out plugin that you’re talking about?
And where do I get them from?

    It would be Pro 1.5

I need more specific instructions, please.

Along with my DV Storm, I received the Storm Edit, Storm Video, Storm Audio software package.

Do I install this first, or does PPro go on first?

I also received a HighPoint ATA Raid Management Software to control my multiple hard drives for video capturing.

At what stage do I install the HighPoint?

Which specific Canopus Drivers do I need to install? And when do I install them?

    Thank you in advance
