Andreas, the link doesn’t seem to be working any more. Do you have the app available to work with the lastest FCPX 10.0.5? Specifically, I’ve noticed that motion templates xmls do not include the tag, they are tagged as and thus do not retain any text. Any workarounds?

[Paul Dickin] “Obviously they have got to ‘make-this-all-happen’, which may take a while.
Possibly until 2013 according to some rumours….”

So, stick with an antiquated version of FCP until the new version restores the efficient workflow I had before? I suppose I’ll need to download the app and do some good ole-fashioned efficiency studies to see if it’s quicker for me to transcode but use existing motion templates, versus native editing plus title generation for each project. Of course, it’s all wild speculation and they may not have gotten rid of motion templates anyway.

And in your crystal ball, what does it say about the future of motion templates? They are incredibly convenient for repetitive projects. If they are separate apps, it makes me wonder if they’ll talk to each other.

The quickest/best way to learn Motion IMHO is to work your way through the certification book, which is probably the Peachpit book to which you were referring. You’ll learn the most efficient way to use the program. Quicker still would be take the certification class. You do know that they are “theoretically” coming out with a new version of Motion in the next couple of months, right?

Thanks for your help. Sending a public message works just fine. Didn’t notice that before. It works better than smoke signals, which was going to be my next attempt.

The help I have received on these forums has been fantastic. I appreciate the ability to have a “wall” feed of my favorite experts. Now I just have to get on the ball and return the favor by answering questions occasionally. 🙂

I’m incredibly glad we didn’t go to prom together. I’d have to slap you. 🙂

So can I send a private message to a Cow friend? There are threads in which I have contributed that I would like to follow up privately. This is generally because my follow up questions would be hijacking the thread into a completely different direction. Thanks.

It’s been awhile since I downloaded any plugins but I’m pretty sure you don’t “open it from the downloads folder”. I believe you shut down FCE, drop the plug-in into the plug-ins folder and then relaunch. To be more specific, drag the plug-in to HD/Library/App Support/FCE Support/Plugins folder. Have fun playing with all the settings of the plugin.

The CGM Eiperle Bad Film is quite good and works on both FCP and FCE. I played around with several others, but keep coming back to theirs. You can actually get it for free here: https://www.cgm-online.com/cgi-bin/dve_downloadcount.pl

    Free beats $100 any day.
