  • ok so this is what im using and what I have been doing.

I use a Mac Pro with Final Cut ver. 7.0.2 with DVD studio pro ver 4.2.2. I have been shooting canon 5D Mark II footage 1080p 30fps. I convert my files from the camera on mpeg streamclip from the raw files to pro res 422 LT.
once I finish editing my product typically nothing more than an hour or so. I send to compressor and use the DVD Best Quality 90 minutes settings AS IS I don’t adjust anything. Then I import those files into DVD studio pro.

This isnt a recent install. had this computer for 2 years and fcp installed for those 2 years. last install i did was the update from fcp2 to fcp3 and that was 7 months ago. I posted this issue on twitter to and someone posted this https://digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm

I installed this and everything started up perfectly. thank you all for your responses

  • Thank you craig. I must have just missed your post because I didnt get to see it before I left. I shot the whole thing the way I got the camera 1080/60. I know this isnt the best way to shoot an event with a brand new camera but unfortunately I had no choice. Now the next step is learning how to properly setup my final cut pro setup to edit this properly. The client has an HDTV but no blu ray player. So obviously I have to downconvert and be able to burn on a standard dvd.
Im knew to all this frame rate hd talk so im sorry if i sound like a moron I just dont know where else to go to get advice. I appreciate the help.

    Sincerely,

no matter what i do i get this grey window in the beginning saying
Unable to locate the following external devies:
    Apple Firewire NTSC (720×480)
your system configuration may have changed, or your deck/camera
may be disconnected or turned off.
please check your connections and click “check again”, or click
“continue” to set external device selection to None.
