Hi Jon,
Thanks for the info on the plate. That’s exactly what I thought it may be (my current tripod has a quick release plate, but it assumes a standard screw attacment to the camera. From the photos of the JVC, I was afraid it was just as you described. Oh, well, what’s another few hundred bucks!

Regarding the zoom controller, I know it is an 8 pin type (not the LANC), which varizoom also makes. I definitely will need to have that control from the tripod handle when I shoot from tripod. I know varizoom makes one for the JVC700, I’m just not sure which for that lens. I will check with Varizoom about that.

A question about the tripod plate. I’m happy with my tripod and head itself, I’m wondering what the tripod plate does (that you got to fit the camera). Does it attach to the tripod via a standard 1/4-20 screw that is typically on a tripod assembly? I really don’t have a need to have a quick release from the tripod (I do mostly tripod work). Will the camera attach to a standard tripod (with 1/4-20 screw) WITHOUT the plate you bought?

Also, what lens do you have? If the Canon (14x), did you get a zoom controller? If so, which?

Thanks Charlie! Great help. I see you have the Fujinon lens. Mine are coming with the Canon. Anybody know which varizoom zoom controller works with the Canon?

FCP 4.5, 1.5 GB DDR SDRAM, OS 10.4.11, ATI Radeon 9600 XT, (2)x Maxtor 250 GB hard drives. Scratch disk is allowed on both drives.
(I’m not sure what else may be important).

I don’t think it’s a full/empty hard drive issue since I’ve lately run into the problem regardless of how much hard drive space is available…Not just the FCP capture issue, but just the whole computer running slow…lots of colored beach balls.
I have previously been able to run captures and such to within an inch of the hard drives capacity without much issue. (I delete the captured media after each project is archived).
It seems to be a recent thing. And I honestly don’t believe it’s limited to FCP, but that’s where it affects me the most (and I couldn’t find a Mac general forum).

Any other info I can provide that may help?

This effect already exists in Apple Motion and takes about 10 seconds to create.
Create the text, then apply the Live Font called “Flip Count”. It then creates the whole flip board look, complete with shadows, highlights, staggered flip sequences, etc.
