Ran a test with sound designer and confirmed its that old problem… ‘disabled’ clips in Premiere will not show up in an AAF. For that reason, I usually don’t ‘disable’ audio clips, instead I normally set audio levels to zero instead of disabling. Forgot to tell the assistant to do it this way, and getting stung at the end for it!

For anyone following:

The function is called ‘Select Camera [#]’. On my keyboard it is just mapped to the number keys, no need to hit the ‘command’ modifyer.

Still wondering if there’s a function that cycles through all camera angles instead of having to map each camera to a specific key… but probably not…

Many years since using Multicam in Premiere, and I thought there was a function that enabled you to switch between Multicam angles with a single keystroke. I just need to know the name of that function, so I can map it onto my keyboard.

I ran a test with a sound designer friend and sending to protools worked fine. Never want to assume they are grading in resolve so I always want to know if an XML will work, but that’s something I might test later down the track.

For anyone following, this is for PC users. For Mac users, this setting is under the Premiere Pro menu, Settings > Media, and choose the option ‘Fit to Frame’.

I think there used to be a setting in Premiere so that if you put a clip in your sequence, it would automatically scale the clip to fit full frame in the sequence (if your clip and sequence had mismatching resolutions).

Am I imaging this? Does anyone know where that setting is, if it exists?

I’m an Offline features editor, usually working with 1080p proxies. So from what you’re saying, sounds like the free version could handle a feature length 1080p export to sound (AAF) and grade (XML/EDL) handover. Thanks!

This is easy. Avid has this nifty feature in the timeline, there is a button in the bottom edge of the timeline window called ‘Toggle Source/Record in Timeline’. Meaning, you can toggle the timeline to display either what’s in your record sequence, or in your source monitor.

UPDATE: I noticed my external hardrive was making a weird noise. So I ejected, plugged in again and finally exporting successfully!!! This is really weird, since I already did a machine restart and had already unplugged the drive before. But don’t look a gift horse in the mouth….

Keep hitting errors when exporting audio only timeline for embedded AAF. Here’s what I’ve already tried:
– Exporting with no handles
– Exporting just a 1 min portion of sequence
– Exporting only 1 track of audio

-Creating new user settings
– Importin bin into a new project

I think people get a bit obssessed with the theoretical capabilities of the software, and forget the real-world limitation of the hardware of their machine. If your hardware can’t handle it, no amount of troubleshooting software is gonna help.

Just checking – do you have sufficient space to save the file in the location you are exporting to?

Avid is a pretty memory intensive piece of software, built and patched from much older and clunkier code. Unlike Premier which is very light and streamlined. So, it’s typical that you can run Premier fine on an older system, but it still struggles with Avid.

You have to punch the numbers of the resolutions. Which is hard when terms like ‘HD’, ‘2K’ and ‘4K’ are thrown around, without specifying what the actual resolution is. Such terms are just umbrella terms for describing a range of resolutions.

HD usually means 1920×1080 (or ‘Full HD’). But sometimes people call 1280×720 HD also.

I think the problem is caused by mixed frame rates. 2 clips were 25fps and the project is 24fps. So I transcoded ONLY the 25fps clips, and since David says the error message pertained to audio, I striped back into the sequence ONLY the audio of the transcoded clips (in an effort to keep video as native as possible). I think the answer is no. If you have an in point marked, thats what you’ll get pasted into the sequence, that’s the whole point of a mark-in. Only way around that is to delete the mark-in.

Ok I fixed this but posting in case anyone needs to know:

In the end I never found out what the keyboard shortcut was that I accidently hit. But the buttons controlling this function are called ‘Reduce’ and ‘Enlarge’ in the ‘Other’ tab of the Command Pallette. So just map them onto new keyboard shortcuts to fix.

Hi, this is an easy one hopefully someone knows…
I’ve accidently hit a keyboard shortcut (don’t know what) which caused my Record monitor to be zoomed (magnified). “1x” appears in the top right corner of the monitor. The Source monitor and Full Screen playback (on the external monitor) remain unaffected. Any ideas how to unzoom this?
