Well, AVCHD may work out after all. I should have posted my computer specs. They are:

    i7 3.06 Ghz CPU
    12 GB DDR3 RAM
    Windows 7
    AMD Radeon 6800
ESATA ports for connecting internal hard drives in hard drive enclosure

Would my computer process AVCHD well? In which case, looks like I may go for the Sony NX5…

Thanks, Danny. But what about the issues I’ve heard about with AVCHD being cumbersome and requiring a lot of processing power to deal with? I’d really like to get that Sony NX5 but am wary about what I’ve heard.

Thanks. Oh, and I should mention that I do have a tripod, some lights, a pvc pipe dolly track, and glide cam.

Gah. Vegas 10, huh? I just upgraded to 9! But that Boris software package sounds very appealing.

Haha, it is a pain, isn’t it? I didn’t realize he would be editing on imovie before we started, in which case I might have told him that he should just edit it with me.

Anyways, thanks John. I’ll try that and see how it works.

Edit: This is so far down the page, I’ll just post a new thread since I have a new issue.

No, at least I don’t think I have.

But I guess it resolved itself-I was able to view the videos on Divx last night. They did slightly stutter-very slightly-every few seconds, and when I rendered a 25 second clip to compare it, it didn’t stutter.

So for the moment I’m just hoping that it’s an issue with my computer (which is fairly beat up at this point, I’m replacing it next week, along with upgrading to Vegas 9).

    Thanks again.

Interesting. Thanks guys. Yes, they’re in DV, so I’ll try it in AVI and see how that works.

But this gives me another question. I can’t view AVI videos on my computer-not sure what program or plugin I need-so while I can render that, I wouldn’t be able to view the footage to make sure it came out all right. Does anyone know what I need to view rendered AVI videos?

    Thanks again.

A ha! Thanks. I actually ended up finding this out about 20 minutes after I submitted the post by randomly clicking around the screen. For a little while I was hating life.
