Hi Guys!

Finally got all of the .MTS file transferred to ProRes. Footage is in FCP and now everything seems to be working fine. However, I am uncertain about my sequence settings. What should I have all of my sequence settings at? I tried searching this topic, before asking, but can’t seems to find a complete break down. Thank you for your help!

You have certainly been helpful. I cannot thank you enough.

I spoke with my “videographer” and she still has the files on her computer that came from the camera card. They are .mts files. I am considering trying to get all of the FILES that she has and then trying Log and Transfer again. However, the card has been ERASED! Hopefully she has everything that I need.

If not – I will try the conversion that you mentioned.

Is it good news that she has the .mts file???? Everything just seems to be so separated. The tutorial that I watched earlier seemed to really stress keeping everything “as is” from the card to the drive.

Last question – I am editing weddings. Do you think that a BRIDE, who has no video knowledge whatsoever would recognize all of the compression? Or do you think that it will still appear to be HD to the “naked” eye” if I must compress once again.

Yes, I did watch your tutorial. And, I understand it completely. The problem is, that someone else transfered the footage from the card to the drive that I am now using. I am trying to figure out if this person copied everything. I am assuming that this is the problem.

One more thing…. Is it normal that these files are .mov? Even if she didn’t copy everything…what should the file type be from this camera?

Here is my path thus far:

Dragged the files from external drive to my internal hard drive.

Next, “Imported” the files into FCP.

I can open the files after import….but when I try to view them..they drag and FCP almost shuts down.

When I tried to L&T it would not allow me to. So importing was my only option.

Changed to Unlimited RT and is still dragging. I am using

Mac OSX 10.5.8

Processor: 2×2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon

Memory 2GB 800Mhz DDR2 FB-DIMM

I watched the tutorial that you recommended, and tried to log the footage. However, FCP will not open these clips, saying that file format is not supported. How would I change these .mov clips to prores?

HI thank you for your help. Actually, the footage has already been transfered from the camera’s card onto an external hardrive. The cameras are being used, so the people that I work with never actually give me the card.

I copied the footage from the hard drive to my computer and brought it into FCP that way. All of the clips are .mov files. Is this really bad? The footage looks great, but is very slow. There is no way I can edit this way. Should I change the sequence settings and FCP preferences?
