Thankyou Scott, unfortunately the playback settings are greyed out.

I have found that the Deck PB & Record System Format settings need to be set to DVCPro25 which then allows video to be transfered to the deck. However, the image seems to appear as two layers on the monitor. The first layer appears to be a frozen image, and the second layer although running is badly pixelated. If I play back the recorded sequence on the deck, the same symptoms persist. Any ideas, please?
