I appreciate I may be working in prehistoric times here, but I’m new to this technology and am having problems using PProCS3 when trying to export to an AJ-SD93E Deck connected by Firewire in DVCPRO format.

Selecting New Project and loading Preset “DVCPRO50-576i-DVCPRO PAL Standard” allows capturing over the Firewire connection and editing on the timeline is fine. But, when I go to the “Export to” options, I’m offered Panasonic P2,Encore and EDL. Export to Tape is greyed-out. The sequence on the timeline has an avi extension.

If I then start a new project and load Preset “DV PAL-Standard 48kHz (or Standard 32kHz)” and then Import the above project, when I go to the “Export to” options, I’m now offered Export to Tape and Panasonic P2 is greyed-out. Configuring the Export to Tape settings and susequent operation of the record button operates the SD93 and all appears to be functioning correctly. The Desktop Program Monitor displays “playing on video hardware”, however there is no video present at the Deck Monitor out except for T/C, and when the tape is played back it appears blank, again apart from T/C.

Can someone please advise what I might not be doing, or might be doing wrong.

    Try this:

    Project Settings
    -General
    –Playback settings

select the box that says enable for fireware export to tape.

Then go to the export to tape and you should have something on your tape.

Thankyou Scott, unfortunately the playback settings are greyed out.

I have found that the Deck PB & Record System Format settings need to be set to DVCPro25 which then allows video to be transfered to the deck. However, the image seems to appear as two layers on the monitor. The first layer appears to be a frozen image, and the second layer although running is badly pixelated. If I play back the recorded sequence on the deck, the same symptoms persist. Any ideas, please?

We use Matrox and the DVCpro settings inside that plug-in and seem to have little trouble with exporting and inporting through firewire.

Sorry I can’t be more help.
