October 29, 2017 at 12:51 am in reply to: Voice over recording isn’t working – any clues, anyone?I just use the track mixer and select a track to record to. You have to select a mic input for the correct track/channel and enable recording for that channel/track. You then have to enable the red master record button in the track mixer and hit play. Under the program monitor it will say “recording”. If it does not say “recording” something is wrong.

The CPU handles the decoding of the video file and the GPU handles most of the effects. The Intensity Pro 4K is more or less for broadcast compliant hardware. I love my Shuttle but you might not need one. Having said that Premiere Pro simply outputs to the 3rd party hardware with no loss in real-time performance. If you edit interlaced video it is good to use 3rd party hardware. Interlaced video never looks good on a computer screen. The Adobe DV setting for output is for using a IEEE Fire Wire converter. I hope that helps.

October 23, 2017 at 6:29 pm in reply to: Output to TV monitor iMac 2017 – Premiere ProYou can use a 3rd computer monitor or you can use a broadcast compliant monitor. If you want to output to a broadcast compliant monitor the BMD Intensity Shuttle works good if you use HDMI or component. If you need SDI you will have to spend a little more money. Not sure if you want to use a computer monitor or broadcast monitor. If you edit any interlaced video the Intensity Shuttle is money well spent. Interlaced video never looks that good on a computer screen.

[Oliver Peters] “[andy patterson] “Have you thought about DR 14?”
Do you really feel like it’s ready for this size of a project?”
[Enno Jacobsen] “1 • Which of the two, Avid and Premiere, is best suited for a proxy workflow that allows subclips?
2 • Which of the two, Avid and Premiere, allows for best practices to sort and structure my material?
3 • Which of the two, Avid and Premiere, lets me work with markers and some sort of clip/timeline metadata in the process?”He mentioned best practice for sorting, subclips and makers. You can watch the video below to see what BMD has done in regards to what the original poster is asking about. That and the implementation Fairlight is awesome to me. Premiere Pro, Avid and FCPX will all work. I am not saying DR 14 is the best option for everyone. I do like some features of DR 14 better than Premiere Pro. I had the beta. It worked well. A few minor bugs but that can be said of Avid, FCPX and Premiere Pro. I no longer have DR 14 on my system. I am still on the cloud so I use Premiere Pro. I will wait until NAB 2018 to decide to jump ship. Adobe should be able to implement Audition into Premiere Pro like BMD implemented Fairlight into DR 14 but we will have to wait and see. I imagine I will be using it after NAB 2018 but who knows for sure? It will be awesome if BMD releases a grapics/photo program at NAB 2018. One other reason I did not make the jump to DR is I think you stated DR only works with BMD hardware. That is a bummer. I like my Intensity Shuttle and doubt I will be buying anything from AJA or Matrox. I might be OK for me to to install DR 14 again. Having sad that hardware support might be a deciding factor for some.

[Eric Merklein] “As someone who doesn’t have much time to build motion graphic (and I’m not an After EFX head (wish I was) I do like the capability to purchase from a place like templates market place.
Essential Graphics give us a bare bones platform and adds more work in terms of key strokes, AND it forces me to create media files for every title I create.
It’s just more stuff to carry around, back up and re-link.
The system is quite clumsy and I wish that Adobe would have webinar meet ups from time to time so that we editors can talk to Adobe developers.”
I agree 100%. I know other people feel the same way. I don’t know if they should scrap it or try to make it better. If there was one thing I liked about Premiere Pro it was the titling system.
-
Have you thought about DR 14?
-
[Dennis Radeke] “Appreciate your response and interest in the legacy titler. While I hear ya on things like stroke, the overwhelming number of people shouted for a new titler as the legacy one was very old and had not been updated in a while. That said, the legacy titler is still there, so have at it!”
I don’t doubt some people liked the canned effects in FCPX and wanted to have premade templates in Premiere Pro. I consider that being lazy. It would have been better to learn the titling system of Premiere Pro. Did you know a lot of people in these forums mocked an belittled the Legacy titling system until I made a video showing the true capabilities of what Premiere Pro can do? They will not mock it anymore. The old titling system is still there but Adobe wasted time on something that really is not all that great. Also the titles don’t look as crisp and clean in the new titling system as they did in the Legacy titling system. That is the worst part.
[Dennis Radeke] “I thought I would pop on as there was a part of MAX of which I was directly involved. Yesterday at MAX, Adobe also launched a Motion Graphics templates marketplace on Adobe Stock.”
I am not impressed. I do not want templates. I want good titling tools to create my own graphics.
[Dennis Radeke] “As of this moment, we have over 1,000 templates of which over 100 are free. These are high quality After Effects designs that can be leveraged directly in Premiere Pro.”
I am not impressed at all. If you watch my video (link is below) you will know why. Having said that you know what I really liked? The composer/music score portion of Sound Booth. It was cool but Adobe was asking to much for the music scores. Having said that the user had a lot of control over the different musical parts/elements. I wish that feature could be implemented into Audition. Is there anyway to download the music score files?
[Dennis Radeke] “Among these, is a small Master Artists Collection which has some extremely high quality free content.”
I would rather just make my own graphics. I imagine other people feel the same way. Everything in the video below was created in Premiere Pro. Even the back ground animations and logos. You can start watching at 6:20 and at 9:00. If you can watch the whole video that would be great.
[Dennis Radeke] “For Adobe users, I hope you enjoy it and provide some feedback. “
I hope after watching my video you will realize why I am not a big fan of the Essential Graphics Panel. I created a video of features I would like to see in Premiere Pro (link is below). Adobe ignored my request but Blackmagic did not (I didn’t even send it to BMD). It is as though BMD looked at my feature request and improved on it. Why didn’t Adobe? My video was posted long before DR 14 was announced. BMD implemented the Fairlight system into DR 14. I hope Audition can get implemented into Premiere Pro ASAP. I hope we can soon nest audio tracks in Premiere Pro. DR 14 has dropped in price but the CC is going up in price. Having said that FCPX is still only $300.00 with free upgrades.
