    so, I’ve done all the updates, googled the aec.sys file, which says it’s a timing issue with windows, downloaded the fix, but it says I’ve got SP3 so I don’t need to..
    I tried disabling the uad plugins on the audio channel incase it was that, but to no avail.
    BUT, the thing is I tried exporting an avi and it worked! so it’s just the rendering MP2 and MP4 that blows it up. So this is progress.

    Any ideas why it flips out on those particular files?

    ok, so I just tried updating everything and I think I updated the bios? I hit the little program with the ROM file beside it..? I wish I knew how to work these things.

    Anyway, it didn’t work, as I’ve just got more blue screen.

    the message says-

    *** STOP: 0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0XE0C06C31, 0XEBE60A3C, 0X00000000)
    *** aec.sys – Address EBE60A3C base at EBE60A3C, DateStamp 00000000

    Beginning dump of physical memory
    contact syst admin or tech support or santa for further assistance.

    whatever the hell that means…?

    hi,

    I haven’t checked the blue screen bit yet, does it damage the computer when it does that?
    Anyway, the error box on reboot says

    Server=watson.microsoft.com
    UI LCID=1033
    Flags=1696080
    Brand=WINDOWS
    TitleName=Microsoft Windows
    DigPidRegPath=HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\DigitalProductId
    ErrorText=A log of this error has been created.
    HeaderText=The system has recovered from a serious error.
    Stage2URL=
    Stage2URL=/dw/bluetwo.asp?BCCode=1000008e&BCP1=C0000005&BCP2=E0C06C21&BCP3=EBDE1A3C&BCP4=00000000&OSVer=5_1_2600&SP=3_0&Product=256_1
    DataFiles=C:\DOCUME~1\studio\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERc5eb.dir00\Mini010610-01.dmp|C:\DOCUME~1\studio\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERc5eb.dir00\sysdata.xml
    ErrorSubPath=blue
    DirectoryDelete=C:\DOCUME~1\studio\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERc5eb.dir00

    but I have no idea what this means..
    I haven’t changed any of the hardware recently and it seems weird that it only does it on certain projects.. the ones I really want to keep hmnf.

    I’ll look into updating the bios, but I’m not sure how to do that..

    cheers

    Hi,

    it’s doing it with the older and newer versions..
    My pc is running XP Pro version 2002, SP3, and is a Intel Core Quad CPU, 2.83GHZ it says 2.5G ram but I’m sure it’s 4G.. so that should be a good enough spec surely?
    I mostly use the computer for audio recording. It has a RME HDSP9652 soundcard and a UAD quad card too.. but that wouldn’t throw it would it?
    Also, I just gave it the windows update..

    I’ve just tried rendering some old footage and it seems to work there, but on certain newer projects it just jumps to the blue screen..

    strange..
