Never used SoundForge – can anyone explain why it’s better/worse/the same as Audition/Soundtrack Pro/Protools? Thanks

the new Maps has a number of flaws – including:

    no streetview
terrible traffic maps (nearly invisible dotted red line..no green or yellow)
no robust business and location look up database
    weak direction accuracy
slow to refresh maps (Google’s was fast)
    some streets missing or mislabeled
some landmarks off or not there
    no transit or foot directions

this is not ready for prime time –

We’d love to get rid of 32 bit editing (AVID already has without disrupting the tracks we need) If Apple puts a tracks and auto keyframe mixing option back into FCP X – you’d see many more converts.

AP went with Premiere for Cost? What editing system costs less than FCPX?

I can tell you it worked wonders in FCP 7…lightening fast analyzing clips — and unlike Apple’s built in stabilizer – would look at just the length of clip in the timeline – not the entire shot – assuming it’s the same. All that said I love Warp Stabilizer too – it’s like video magic.

how does it compare to warp stabilizer — if you go to the link you’ll see tests they did on video using both – Lock and Load is very good

  • not sure – the Retina Display mbp has the latest Lion on it – the other older computer had snow leopard ..can’t imagine the OS would affect the firewire/thunderbolt connection — although the more programs i quit on the OLD macbook – the faster the drive worked in the test on that older machine

Testing on the Retina display with nothing else running (by the way i ran the test on the SSD on the new Retina internal drive too) that is CRAZY fast – pinned the needle in write and read — i think something like 485 mbs….

  • There DOES seem to be a significant speed hit using the thunderbolt to fire-wire 800 adapter

Did test on OLD macbook pro got 43.2 write 63.7 read off Caldigit VR Mini

on New Retina display same test 36.9 write 24 read — that’s a big hit – although playing and editing video from that drive doesn’t seem slow
