DERP. Doing this as long as I have and missing the fact that I only have 23 frames per second is slightly embarrassing. I’ve been 29.97 for as long as I can remember.

ID10T error. Feel free to recount this story of extreme stupidity in your edit bays. LOL.

    Providing additional information:

    Cutting 1080p/23.976 in a 1080p/23.976 Drop sequence
If I enter “+1:00” it gives me at duration of “1:01” as expected. But subtract a frame by “+:29” it, and it jumps to “1:06”

I loaded plain old DV NTSC at 29.97, and it does not have the 6 frame offset issue. So to me it points to the 23.976 frame rate.

From what I understand, Magic Lantern only needs two exposures; one for shadow, and one for highlights. I’m pretty sure it interlaces the footage to achieve this. I may not even need to shoot 60fps if that’s the case. I may be wrong. But it would explain why the example on Magic Lantern’s site has movement in it.

I’m on the T3i, and I run into this problem all the time when I use my 50mm 1.8. I also get some weird lighter, hazier spots in the middle of the frame when I don’t strictly control the light entering the lens. My hunch is that you’re running into the same problem.

I’m using an old FD 50mm from 1985 with an adapter. (Don’t laugh, it was free!) I’ve found that the lack of modern coatings on the glass, plus adding two more layers of glass in the adapter brings the picture quality down quite a bit from my kit lenses. Add an ND into the equation, and things just get muddy. That’s why I only use my 50mm for very specific shots where I need something very stylized.
