Yes guys that stuff would also be great but bottom line is I need the tools and feel of nle’s if you are going to tell my clients and I that this is an Online Editing capable finishing tool. Beyond join edit actually working I have to say this far with all of these public beta’s the feel and operational functionality of the ‘edit’ page has been sure frustrating. coming from fcp7, avid, premiere, etc. this architecture just doesn’t feel right, it’s not responsive really. I think sitting with any experienced editor and having them try to adjust a timeline as needed before grading is just not interactively functional and understandable completely.
Not meant to be a rant, it’s got great potential just giving feedback and encouraging the bmd to keep up the great work because I really grade in resolve so improving those tools is more important than the edit page – just need that edit page to be solid in function and feel. Sit with an editor cutting something real and see how responsive things to be in a timeline.

October 4, 2013 at 4:30 pm in reply to: DaVinci 10 adds many prosumer oriented ‘all in one” features, while not fixing basic issues.Yeah this is an insane thread and I have to say sure the keyer could be better like d-key in baselight or whatever but R10 is a huge improvement and a great step in the right direction!
I think we all have to keep in mind that the guys like CO3 also have Smoke/Flame etc. operators they work in tandem with – that seems to be forgotten a lot. ITS NOT JUST RESOLVE you are seeing on a lot of those Hollywood blockbuster films – they also work back and forth with vfx guys in house to get the best results.

R3d trim does not work solidly – look around the forums, plenty of people posting with problems on this feature.

No way it should take all of that to make media managed job relink to trimmed clips. A serious Online tool needs to have robust media management.
Resolve collect is a great lean in the direction of what is needed, which is media management in Resolve – whether from 3rd party app “Resolve Collect”, a plugin or from within a later version of Resolve 10 (i.e. 10.1).
The ability to not only copy the media in a timeline or project but trim it with the handles you need as well..ResolveCollect is great because the latest version also includes offline clips, audio, etc but what I and many colleagues really need is also the ability to do all of that but just copy each clip (off all types) with some handles – not the entire file.

+1 I have yet to get this to work myself, super frustrating!!
A media manager / resolve collect function really needs to be implemented especially if you are calling it am online editor.
BMD if you are reading this we need to be able to do what resolve collect does and what r3d trim is supposed to do. We all want to be able to copy the media used in a timeline or project and add handles if needed – not the whole clip like resolve collect does – along with offline, audio, etc.
Please!!

I think another overlooked feature is the ability media manage projects like “Resolve Collect” does..most post-apps we use have this function – fcp7, avid, premiere, after effects, etc. I assume Baselight has something like this or smoke/flame?

Flashed vs. non-flashed?
5803GB vs. 6802GB for GUI if planning to get Cubix and use 3-4 Titans?
Thanks

August 30, 2013 at 11:56 am in reply to: MacVidCards has Mac EFI Titan and GTX780 finished – makes them into native OSX cardsQuick question about macro 5,1 GUI options if also planning to use Cubix w/ Titans.
We currently have the 580 3gb standard evga PC Card in a macpro 5,1 and are planning to get a Cubix and put 3-4 Titans in there depending on what 10.9 osx can handle. We are wondering if that 580 is ok to leave in as the GUI or if it is advisable to for example replace with the 680 2gb or 4gb version – not flashed. How much of a difference would those make? Also if the Cubix is being used in our other davinci room will I miss the 3gb on the 580 if I replace with then 680 2gb card?
On 10.8.4 or 10.9 does having cards flashed for Mac effect performance or is it now just about boot screen?
