Hey Mike,
Just to follow up here – if we do not go the route of Redcine can you in brief explain or point me to a standard term explanation of how to crop to 1080 as I want in Resolve with Epic footage? I would be rendering out as 1080 ProRes4444 but as I mentioned some of the shots will get cut off where its important…I want to be prepared to do this crop in both applications.
I have some Epic footage I can do tests with but just thought to ask here first for best practices in Resolve as I am a new user.
thanks

how about i just re-transcode in streamclip un check the scaling option you mentioned and reconnect to those files and then change my sequence setting to none? i notice it only lets you choose upper or lower not non but i guess you are saying once you uncheck interlace scaling its ignored and shows up at none in fcp?

not sure i did not actually do the trancode – i usally use the fcp plugin when i do it to get timecode but yeah the editor says he selected none but i guess maybe he forgot to uncheck that box?
DO you think its ok the idea i suggested of just adjusting my clips and the sequence to non will be ok? I dont believe i see any actual fields when i watch it down either as quicktime, fcp or on my calibrated dreamcolor monitor.

I was just thinking it might be easier to just command 9 for item properties on each clip in the timeline and change to none instead of upper and do the same for sequence settings since there are not actually fields from the mpegstremaclop ProRes transcodes I did.
Also because of that there is no timecode so that might make reconnecting media problematic as well since the fcp plugin adds timecode to clips of course.
Does this seem ok to you guys?
thank you

Hi Mike,
thanks for the response, not a bad idea at all but I think they want to stay with ProRes4444 quicktimes if possible since all the other shots which look fine with center cut will be that format and resolution – can I still do that format with color then but for the trouble shots make them 2k or 4K 4444ProRes in Redcine for grading in Color?MacPro 4,1 OSX 10.6.8 / FCS3 / CS5

Ha! sorry gang, just tried double clocking on the actual scope and like magic those parameters return!
I guess I am still curious about the 75% question and what if anything else I should be aware of with these sliders??
