I was curious so I launched all of the project files after removing the cycore effects from my plug-in folder and this is what I found:

1. The muzzle fire tutorial uses “CC Fast Radial Blur”, but you can also use the standard radial blur but the cc just renders faster

2. The DVD menu tutorial uses CC Vector Blur to make the fractal noise a little more organic but it’s mainly just adds texture and isn’t totally necessary. Also a pre-rendered version of just that element comes on the DVD since the fractal noise took too long to render I pre-rendered it by itself to be able to work faster.

I don’t remember everything about version 6.0 does it have latest text presets or was 6.0 when it was first implemented. I just remember 6.5 being tons better than 6.0…

Mylenium, you’re absolutely correct.
Probably the only downside would be the finished project files aren’t backwards compatible, but you can import the footage into a 6.5 project and follow along just the same.

But of course we suggest you upgrade when you can.

Can I use After Effects 6.5?
So you haven’t yet upgraded to version 7? No problem. Serious Effects
uses only the core tools of After Effects, so users can follow along
with version 6.5 as well. Of course the overview of new features (01)
won’t be available in 6.5, but you’ll certainly be prepared for the upgrade.
Some parts of the interface may look different but virtually everything
needed to follow along can be found in version 6.5.

Project Files
Although the project files can’t be opened in AE 6.5, you can
still import the footage into a new project and follow along.

Wow, a quarter of that video tutorial was a commercial. What have we become?

Figure a 30 minute TV show has 8 minutes of advertising and 22 mintes of show. That’s about 26 percent commercials. I guess we’re on mark 😉

Well, I’d hate to give away all of my secrets… Wait a minute. That’s what I do. In that case…

It’s actually a flash component that you use inside of flash that plays external FLV files. It’s awesome, easy to use and customizable with action script control.

Keyframe the box blur effect from 50 (bluriness) to 0 or even a fast blur would work.
