Thanks guys… WHat I ended up doing was taking a screen capture on a Green Sticky (mac) then keyed out the green.
Good call on Vectorized it through illustrator, I’ll do that next time.
ANd for future reference to anyone that ever needs to do this on mac… You can actually set up your mac to type farsi (system preferences) … and it will work in all apple products…. FCP, MOTION, DVD STUDIO…. but none of the adobe products.
To get adobe to type farsi just doesn’t exist.

One step ahead of you, thats the process i just jumped into.
But if anyone has a better solution please please help.
And Sticky can get crazy big so I’m good for now

Localize my computer for farsi? That sounds like the path I need to take.
Is it an easy switch back and forth between localizing for Farsi and English? Maybe I can localize my farsi, type what i need to type, then localize back to English? Does it work that way?
I can’t post a picture right now, maybe later…. but seriously… There really isn’t anything to take a picture of. Because there is just nothing there…
Let me try and explain a little better…
I downloaded maybe a dozen Farsi Fonts…
After Effects reads them okay… I can type with them… but take a look at this website….
https://radiozamaaneh.org/tmp/edi/
Try typing something… You’ll notice that when you do a certain combination of letters they combine to make a different kind of symbol.. This is the way typing in farsi works. (or so I’ve gathering through my research)
The problem is that when i type with my farsi fonts in AE i get the separate symbols and they don’t combine like they should for farsi… Understandably so… because all an installed font is a collection of characters…
I need to find a way to get this to work though.
Now here me out on one last thing…
That website I sent you… I tried copying and pasting what it give me into AE… No Luck… BUT… I paste the SAME THING into a sticky on my mac and it WORKS!!!
WHat the ehck do you make of that???

Just Tried it.
I can’t type Farsi in Illustrator any better than I can in After Effects.

Sorry if I was a little quick to take offense, honestly I think it was mostly Dave’s long winded analogy that struck a cord.
So here is the thing…
The station is NOT super professional in any way. Think Public Access. And I’m not going to hire a professional right now, this project isn’t worth it, maybe in the future but not now.
What do you suggest? What’s the best thing I can do? Even if it might not work whats the best thing I can do to prepare the video without hiring a professional?
FCP has a “broadcast safe” filter that supposedly you slap it on and it makes it broadcast safe. Though I could imagine that this filter does a mediocre job at best will it at least cover my butt and get my video to look half decent over the air?

There really isn’t any need to be condescending. I was asking a question I do not know the answer to. What is so crazy about this thread that you find it hard to believe is serious?
This is a forum right? Where you can go to for help?

tried that. Only get sound 🙁

Thank you so much for your response Dave I really appreciate your Help.
[Dave LaRonde]Okay, so where IS this spot going to air: a TV station or some place like the Discovery Channel?
A TV STATION. The discovery channel is much bigger than this place. This station is on satellite but I would compare them more to a Local station. Like Public Access.
[Dave LaRonde]Don’t have hardware scopes? You open BOTH the Vectorscope and Waveform monitors in FCP, you LEAVE them open, and you watch ’em like a hawk!
Thanks Dave. I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know what “hardware scopes” is. Maybe I have it and just don’t know I have it? Anyway, I will look into what “vectorscope” is and “Waveform Monitor’ (i think i know what you mean by this one though)- But when you say “watch them like a hawk” what Am i watching for?
Thanks so much for you time Dave. You’re really helping me out.
Here is some information I just found out about the station. I don’t know if it helps but here it is:
Frequency: 12115
Polarity: vertical
Symbol Rate: 22425
FEC: 3/4 -
Okay, Basically right now I am not worried about Web, DVD, or anything (I will be once i get this right)… but right now I’m seriously just going to bring my laptop over and sit with my client at his desk and play the 1 hour and 30 minute video. Then when he likes it I’ll come back and burn dvds and prepare segments for the web.
I understand that a self-contained quicktime is the best possible quality and also a very large file but not intended for web and dvd…. HOWEVER…. Will it playback fine on my computer when i bring my laptop over to him and play it?
Because thats all I’m worried about right now- playing back the best possible quality video file for him. AT the same time, the video file i create HAS to be able to playback independently, as i will not be able to bring with me the 6 Lacie hardrives that all my raw footage and editing capture scratches are spread out on.
I know if i exported as uncompressed the darn thing would not playback on my laptop… if this happens with a self-contained quicktime then forget it, i need something that plays properly.
How big of a file are we talking? could it get as big as 100GB?
