    Yay. Problem solved.

    Uninstalling Quicktime and reinstalling the latest version did the trick.

    I had tried this previously but there is a trick to uninstalling QT. When uninstalling qt through the install/uninstall programs, choose the “uninstall everything” option. Windows says it’s not a good idea but it works. if you don’t choose this option, the new install doesn’t work properly.

    Then just download and reinstall QT.

    don’t think that’s the problem because the jpgs worked with Premiere previously. think it’s a software glitch

    Do you mean to drag and drop .jpg files into the Project Window?

    I just tried that. It doesn’t work with jpgs or gifs but does work with tif and bmp files.

    I get an error message saying “file is an unsupported type”.
