November 23, 2014 at 11:12 am in reply to: Looking For a Squash And Stretch Script For After Effects CS4I still haven’t found an answer for this to date (2014). There must be a way for us non-scripties!
I also often have to animate bouncing balls on text, manually S&S is not even a consideration with thousands of bounces per syllable of each word.
I’ve done it manually before and it looks lively and awesome, but that eats up production time. Dan’s scrtipt is amazing but can only be applied directly to the “sprite” and not to the null amongst other problems… for things such as shopping mall karaoke straps!
Has anyone found a script that can squish vertically at each keyframe then return to 100% beteween? -
Great suggestions! 3D Stroke is great for that but here’s another way to do it inside AE. I”ve used it for animation dots along a path which also animates like a waggling cable.
Create your stroke or path in Ai.
In AE, context-click on the Ai path layer and “Create Shapes from Vector Layer”.In the new vector layer (which will show up at the top of your comp [type “1” to select]) twirl down to where it will say “GROUPS”, highlight that and click on the little “ADD” button then add a STROKE.
There you can specify dots, dashes and animation on the vector layer and your Ai will still be sitting below but muted.

Back to the original question! 😉
Yep, we in the video for web game (I work in Radio and online video content) always peak at around -9. I sometimes let it wander a little higher.
I can’t remember what we do for TV (i’ll edit the post when I find my notes) but normalising it to 0 can cause problems with a terrestrial transmission. Some might remember that up until around 2012 the BBC used to have everything much louder than other streaming services (ITV Player, 4OD) and as that was usually the number ONE complain, after much work it’s now down to a sensible level relative to other broadcasters. Pardon them for being too AWESOME!

Document Setups/ Artboards/
Then click on the three icons in the top menu to show/hide your safe areas and crosshairs. -

The Illustrator help site is giving me a “forbidden” code at the moment, i’ll post the answer as soon as thats working again.

December 4, 2013 at 11:09 am in reply to: Looking For a Squash And Stretch Script For After Effects CS4I have been looking for the same thing. Animating by hand is not an option for 30minutes of bouncing ball TV animation.
A script that squishes by an amount as it hits each keyframe (.sin with decay) then unsquishes as it leaves that keyframe would do the trick but I wouldn’t know where to start.
The script above https://www.motionscript.com/expressions-lab-ae65/squash-and-stretch.html was a great starting point for a single movement but I’m sure with help from the peeps here we could get it to help our bouncing balls.

Same problem has hit me and quite a few other people. After effects only renders part of a work area or complete comp and reports a “complete render” bling giving an incomplete render. Doesn’t make for happy clients.
Diagnostic comp switching CPU/GPU and rendering out comps with single plug-ins including VideoCopilot E3D and OF.
Hopefully I can help someone with this simple solution:
#1
Clean your media cache in the AE preferences.#2
Reset your After Effects preferences in library/preferences/adobe/aftereffects by renaming or deleting the folder (CS5/10. CS6=11.).#3
Downgrade the CUDA driver (at time of writing, V5) to Version 4. This solved it on two computers for me. AE CS6 does not seem to be recognising CUDA 5 at the time of writing; some people even get a note on startup “Ray-tracing on the GPU requires…”.I actually lost a bit of speed (could just be my imagination) but now I have completed renders, a faster computer (after a cleaned media cache) and a smiling client.

May 22, 2013 at 12:57 pm in reply to: AE CS6 continuous render fail at same frame, deadline today! eeek!Late, but always worth posting to help future renderers.
Rendering a FULL COMP; AE will stop the render prematurely with the usual render complete “bling!”.
AE does not report any errors, it just stops. The four times i’ve encountered this with various second hand files, there’s always a VC “Twitch” or “VC Reflect” plug in somewhere… they were the culprits in all four cases.
My best and most effective workaround was to simply pre-comp the layer with the VC effect which indeed AK nearly always encourages for various reasons. Sorry if this is not possible.
