  • Hi, I came across this problem today. It is also wort mentioning that Premiere (CC 2015) had prompted me today that I had to sign in or run in trial mode. Out of the blue. I hadn’t changed anything since the evening before.
After signing in, I could not open the project I had worked on only 14 hours before. I then quit the application. reopened it, opened an empty template project of mine, closed that and then opened the real project again. This time there were no problems. Maybe this works for someone else, too.

  • Hi, I just did the test and started Premiere CC2015.1 that is, version 9.1.0 (174). I did start just fine. My platform is the iMac 5k i7 4 GHz, AMD R9 M395X 4GB, El Capitan.

Maybe a reset of the Premiere preferences would help? According to this post it is done by either holding down Shift or Opt during startup of Premiere.

Hi, some years ago I had a shot that was similar in nature, with regards to it being body work. Back then I first tried Mocha, but everything was moving: the body was twisting, hair flying and light changing due to rotation. In the end it came down to hand painting in Photoshop and AE (no Nuke and Maya for me back then ; ) I did it as a kind of learning experience but it took literally weeks. I would not suggest doing it.

Hi, although this thread may be dated, the issue is not. I ran into the same problem today. At first, I thought that nothing in the system had changed recently. However, as it turned out I had installed “Easy-hide-IP” some days ago and not touched DaVince since then. Although Easy-Hide-IP was not actually running I deinstalled it anyway. Luckily, this brought back my database in DaVinci.

Even though this is quite specific, maybe if you experience the same problem it is worth looking into that direction.

    Good luck!

I just tried to find Thrausi or Catastrophy but the https://www.nitro4d.com page is not up anymore. Does anyone know more about this? Is it discontinued?

    Kind regards,

August 29, 2011 at 2:21 pm in reply to: Premiere and Media Encoder CS5.5 Freeze On Output

Hi Josh, it is a project setting. If you are new to Premiere, there are:

    1. Premiere settings (global)
    2. Project settings
    3. Sequence settings (multiple per project)

So, under Project > Project Settings > General > Video Rendering and Playback you can chose “Mercury Playback Engine Software only”

Then you have to save before encoding to get the setting into the Media Encoder.

Important: The Media Encoder does not have such a switch/setting. It takes it from the Premiere project. Therefore, saving before export is important.

I would recommend having the option on for editing and then switching it of (and save) just before export.

    Regards,
    Andreas

    A quick update:

We rendered out a bunch of more videos without GPU acceleration. No freezing. Before, to a high degree of certainty, this number of videos would not have rendered through smoothly. This really points to the problem being with the CUDA interop.

    Hi Jon,

thanks for the help. Unfortunately, repairing disk permissions did not help. It also has difficulties, i.e. will not repair all disks and not all errors it spots.

Regarding re-installing: We have installed it on three different Macs, all having this problem. The CS5 that was on there before had been uninstalled with the cleaner tool.

First results: Mercury hardware acceleration could be the problem

When we reopened the underlying projects and changed the MPE setting from hardware acceleration to software only (project settings), it seems to encode stable.
We have NVIDIA Quadro FX4000 for Mac and Quadro 4000 for Mac boards installed. Problems show on both configurations.

Maybe there is a bug with the NVIDIA cards, their drivers or Adobe’s way of adressing them?

However, I do not see how I could nail it down for a qualified bug report to Adobe. Any ideas how this could be communicated to them?

    Regards,
    Andreas
