sparse bundles are kind of directories like any app is
so read/write doesn’t differ that much from from that read/write speed of the volume/drive they reside on.
having multiple sparse bundles on the drive and all are mounted (and used) is kind of the same thing like multiple streams in fcpx. accessing media (or in this case files inside a sparse bundle folder) do have the same limitations as any file/folder on a drive.
the big advantage of sparse bundles is that organizing events/projects in fcpx is way easier — and that will make fcpx faster since there is less memory/resources needed while fcpx is running.
i will post some screen shots from the bmd speed test tomorrow when i got access to a real computer.-andreas

there shouldn’t be any conflict using that name. i’ve read some legal stuff.
the app has nothing in common with scifi (i hope — ask apple about x files), i’m not selling mugs or t-shirts etc.
in case there would be problems, i will change the name to fcp x-files.-andreas

Hi all,
I’ve updated the version of XTI to fix the odd decimal divider errors.

Hi A
Thanks for the example(s).
I thought it would be interesting for others as well to reply here.More or less the errors you got are FCPX errors. You are using a decimal delimiter (set up in system setup) “,” instead of “.”
FCPX obviously can’t handle that (same as some pretty old versions of legacy FCP).So:
“title offset=”6,0/1s” ref=”r2″ name=”Basic Subtitle” duration=”4,838/1s” start=”3600s”
Won’t work.Give me 2 days to fix.

Hi Nick,
Sorry, maybe I misunderstood.
Layered TIFFs show up like a normal TIFF in any NLE, but not as layers. So you can’t animate the layers. But in many cases latter is not wanted and creates an overhead.
So it depends on what you want/need to do.-Andreas
