    Thank you Riccardo,

And I believe you are correct. What they’re trying to circumvent is using the cache, so we’re most likely looking at a getting a new computer and salvage parts from the old one.

    Hi Prathvish,

Thank you for your answer. However, when I said that I saved them I only meant that I did “Grab Still”. This puts the DPX in the hidden Gallery-folder, but the drx is not to be found in that folder.

If I had, instead, exported the stills from the Gallery Tab, then your approach would work perfectly.

What I was hopeing for, was to find the location of the DRX-files when you only do a quick “Grab Still” from the panel. But it seems that such a file is never saved, and the Grade assosiated with the Still only resides in RAM memory unfortunately. Or some other hidden file with another extension.

    Regards,

    Andreas

    Hi Barrie,

    Long time!
Also, you’re quite right. It is surprising that we cannot have small incremental saves, a “Save As…”-function, etc. Everything has to be this round-about way, and saving (“AutoSave”) is indeed one of those quirks.
Currently I am running a 2 x 50min episode project in Resolve. HD, on the fastest Mac imaginable. Shouldn’t be a problem, I thought. Takes over 1.5 minutes to save. Goes without saying that I cannot have that running every ten minutes when I have a client sitting next to me (especially since it starts to save right in the middle of naming a node, picking a key, etc).

Anyway, my problem remains (and so does a rather surprised client)

    Cheers,

    Andreas

Sascha, you have upgraded then I take it?
Any performance boost or anything from the new driver? Issues? I’m holding back a few days, hate to update and then have a session crash with a client next to me..

    Cheers

    Hi Sascha,

Nope, no feature – just a veeeeery long TV-series (and the files are Prores QTs).

I quite agree with doing proper tests (not just a few minutes), so we’re gearing up for doing a full 1-hour random episode and clock all different parts of it.

    Cheers,

    Andreas

    Hi,

You’re all quite right. The reason is that there is over 80TB of camerafiles, which will take too long to transfer once we get going. Hence, the need to shorten it down a bit.

We just scored a Mac-Resolve for testing purposes earlier today though, so the whole discussion suddenly turned purely hypthetical.

Thanks all for your answers and insights,

    Andreas

    Thanks Rob,

The files will come from a conform-session on Resolve, where the original files were ProRes straight from the Alexa camera. However, with the current difficulty to export Prores from Windows we tried DNxHD.

    Hi,
Thanks for outlining those steps for us Sacha. I’ll use that for my new computer soon.

    Cheers,

I tried to reply earlier, but it seems it did not make it through…

    Short recap:

    1) I just upgraded. Resolve is dead.
    2) It was a clients machine.
    3) I will have problems explaning this to my client.

Yoram Tal, can you share how you managed to downgrade?
And BMD, can we get an ETA please? This is not really a good spot.

    Thanks in advance,

    Andreas
