    Thanks Walter,
it worked smooth with ProRes4444, i think from now on I’ll be using it when I need alpha.

For the blending mode issue, I was supposing that, I needed someone to tell me that there must be 2 different renders 😉

    Thanks!

Thanks, I exported a sequence of PNG at 16 bit and it worked fine. The other mistake was exporting premultiplied instead of straight, giving some thin black border around white things.

Now, another issue comes in. In my exported graphic I have a square (made semi-transparent with multiply) and a white text. Everything looks fine in after effects, but if I set “multiply” in FCP obviously the white text disappear. Should I export the 2 objects separately?

And, never happened, the colors in FCP are pale (lighter) than in AE. I have tried to turn on color management, to export in different formats, but the color is always washed out compared to what is displayed in AE. Any idea on what’s happening?

    Thanks!

Thanks Kevin! I got it! After 3 hours of tweaking XYZ between camera and cylinder I got pretty the same result as the client mockup.

    thanks

Thanks for the prompt reply Kevin!

I’ll give it a try, right now and let you know.

Thanks John, this was our first attempt, but bringing them together were still out of sync. We solved it changing the speed of the audio track to 99.9% and exporting as audio, that worked.

    Thanks.

    Yes, please share your results!

I am grading a 3d stereoscopic short for DCP output. I graded it with Apple Color on a JVC HD (REC709) monitor and let the DCP software do the REC709 -> XYZ conversion. I’m just going out to the theatre to check the results.

My problem is, stereoscopic DCP movies are screened at 1/4 luminosity than 2d movies (4.5 FL vs. 14 FL).

How do you take care during grading of this luminosity gap? Do you have some special settings for your grading monitor or do you use a projector? I am worried about pushing too much gain and gamma and mess up the picture. For now, the only way to me is to do some different grades and test them in a theater. Usually we screen our stuff on DCP at festivals and on normal projection at art exibitions, if I understand we need to do different color grading for each output, am I right?

Same for me, I have a logo as a transparent TIFF@300dpi that looks ok in AI artboard, but when I export to PDF (press quality, settings done directly by the printhouse on my macbook) it looks jagged, even at 100%. Printed with my home laser printer looks fine. I’m still trying to understand why the PDF looks awful.

I have really tried all the optiont (embed, not embed, flatten transparency, rasterize) but nothing.

    Thanks for your help
