A client brought to me a short movie shot with 5d at 23.98fps.
He did the conversion to 24fps with Cinema Tools.

Now, if I export a quicktime movie @24fps, everything looks good and in sync.
But I need to export audio and video separately. I tried to export a qt prores 422 for video 1080@24fps (same settings of the working sequence in FCP).

Exporting the audio as wav. (.aiff as well), when bringed again with the video, is out of sync.

I’ve noticed that the audio in the working sequence has a bitrate of 48048, after the export it goes back to 48k.

I think it’s a workflow issue, but also after reading a lot of old posts I still didn’t find a solution.

    thanks for the help.

Do the export in 2 stages.

    1) export a self contained movie with audio and video. audio should be 48k. This “builds in” the speed adjustment made my cinema tools.

    2) bring the QuickTime back into FCP and put it in it’s own timeline. Export your audio and video separately. Don’t export from the original sequence with the speed adjusted Cinema Tools clips.

Thanks John, this was our first attempt, but bringing them together were still out of sync. We solved it changing the speed of the audio track to 99.9% and exporting as audio, that worked.

    Thanks.

I was going to suggest that next.

You can actually do audio pull up and pull down in Soundtrack Pro as well.O

    Hi there.
We have just finished a short, mixing 24fps film material and 7d Film material.
The offline was done with a 25fps film to tape and the 24fps 7D material in a Prores 422 HQ.

We exported the peoyect for the audio post as self contained movie and then converted it to a h264 video reference.
The audio went to the post in an OMF out of the proress sequence.

After finishing the audio work and ready to do the online, we now encounter that the audio arrived to the post in 23.976fps.and when putting it together with the video y goes out of sync.
    Any ideas??

    Many many thanks.
