Thanks for your response!! Yeah, I was looking for more of a reverse optics compensation effect but only applied to the outer edges of my image (rather than distorting the entire thing). However, when I try to apply a feathered mask to it, the pixels don’t align with the center of the image (see photo 4). Is there a better way to do this so I can control the effect?

This was super helpful!! Thank you so much!! Not a super urgent question so feel free to ignore but it was odd because I was viewing the raw footage but then I put it into premiere and it was fine (on the same computer monitor). I’m wondering if it was the program I was viewing it through (VLC) that was making the interlaced footage look strange?

what if i would like to change the mask shape but keep my animation? like, i want to make the square smaller but still move around? i’d like a stagnant shape itself that doesnt morph in size or proportions but one that is moving around

use the pen tool and create a path (putting down points). if you press on a new point, hold, drag your mouse, itll make the line curvy and smoth. once your done, right click on your path and select stroke path and itll stroke the path with the current settings of your brush.

try changing the tolerance of the magic wand if its not grabbing enough of the colors (put it up!) if that doesn’t work the easiest thing is to put the magic wand on a low tolerance and select the background then right click and press select inverse. then, switch your magic wand tool to “subtract from selection” on the top right (its the brush with a minus sign) if you need to take out more things. you can select inverse that again and it should select all the blank space and u can color it red.
