we are having our sd footage taranexed to 1080p. Post house said it would end up being 1920×1080. and i want to add some high res stills to this final taranex output. I didn’t see 1920×1080 as an option in fcp sequence settings.

I have high res stills but am using a lower res version of those stills for offline editing. Then when my edit is complete, I want to reconnect to the high res version of those stills when i take my project into an hd timeline and have all of the movements i used on those stills translate to the larger format. So I’m not concerned about the codec. I’m just concerned about having to recreate all of my movements in the online. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have to time out the pictures’ motion with what’s going on in my timeline so the fact that it doesn’t seem to have that kind of capability ends up being more time consuming for me… but if this is the most straight forward way to be able to have hd and sd versions of the same motion, then maybe it will save time in the long run…

I’m using FCP 5.1.4. Could it be because I have my sequence in one project and my footage in another? I need to do this for file size reasons. Can you think of a way that I can get the color change to carry over?

Ok so I’m getting deeper into this standards conversion. How do I know if my PAL footage is progressive? It was not shot by our crew, but on a consumer video camera. I’m looking to integrate this footage into a 23.98 progressive timeline. I’m not looking to change the aspect of the picture, only the frame rate and want the final product to be progressive. I tried just the cinema tools 25 to 23.98 and the audio is not synched. What do you suggest? If it’s not progressive (if there’s some way to tell), how should i go about deinterlacing?

I can open all other projects, as well as blank projects without any problem. I’m assuming my project just got too large and i will try to keep the size down from now on. I’d love to be able to open that one to get my most recent sequence though, so if you have any more suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!

I tried both suggestions and the project still has the same error and will not open.

Does Cinema Tools take care of the PAL to NTSC conversion, not just framerate?? I’ve heard I should only use Cinema Tools on telecine footage.
