  • I can paste attributes one by one. Seems some color effects carried over but not the motion. Just seems weird that a clip would copy over without it’s parameters. Ok guess I’ll do it this way and never use a stereo sequence again. Thanks!

  • Because i need to make the sequence multichannel output. I dont believe theres a way to do that unless making a new sequence from scratch, is there?
    Thanks!

I’m about to start work on a film and come from the same school of thought as you as to audio track layout (used to a bunch of mono tracks in Avid or FCP). When you have the time, would you mind explaining a suggested timeline setup for starting my edit on the right foot to be able to export for mix at the end? Thanks!

How about best practices for setting up the sequence in particular for feature doc.
Looks like the audio track setup can be tricky if you don’t set it up right initially..? Like in terms of being able to have a split audio export and such, though I guess if its sent to mix and color, maybe that doesn’t matter so much in the initial set up, but it will matter for delivery sequence. And best codec for sequence – prores hq? Any other things to keep in mind before I get started? Familiar with FCP7 and Avid MC so just trying to make sure I’m not missing anything.
    Thanks!

Sorry its been a while and I don’t remember now. I don’t think I was able to work it out and don’t use FCP regularly these days. But you may be interested to check out Digital Rebellion’s Cineplay and could maybe reverse engineer something based on how their xml marker export is set up?

Thanks for your suggestion. It was really helpful to know that other raid cards might not let me access my data already on my drives. I got the R680 from B&H for $660. Worth the price to access my data for a few more years without shelling out a lot more for a new computer with thunderbolt plus the thunderbolt adapter. Works great in the dual boot situation too without any setup headaches. I thought I read that the R680 is compatible with thunderbolt in an expansion box but if not i’ll have to come up with another solution when I’m ready to make a complete switch. Thanks again.

If i upgrade to the R680, is it possible to have the drives show up on two different OS X versions without having to re-flash? Specifically Lion and latest OS. On a dual boot system. Would love to be able to start up on either OS without issue but not sure if that’s possible.
    Thanks

Ok so the Highpoint or Areca might technically work with the drives if i reformatted them but probably can’t keep my data? Ugh love my GSpeeds and my Mac Pro. Hate shelling out more money than i need to for things that may not have much longer anyways… Decisions…
    Thanks again!

Ah I see. Thanks! So this is essentially just bypassing the need for a PCI thunderbolt expansion box (and controller card) right? Like an adapter for Mini SAS to Thunderbolt plus RAID control?
    Good to know…
    I appreciate it!

Or should I go the route mentioned in this thread?: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/330/487
(Install the latest R380 driver that’s available and then update OS to yosemite -can’t do further upgrades.) This works?

I believe yosemite is all I need for my other software updates. Maybe not all that future proof but could maybe hold me off until I’m ready to totally upgrade my system…
