I had a “won’t launch” incident this morning and found that in the FCP application package, the name of the MacOS folder had turned into the name of one of my files. Renaming it MacOS fixed it. I did this by “show package contents” on FCP, clicking on “Contents” and renaming the folder. I don’t know if prefs fixes that sort of thing.

Well, just thought I’d update in case this happened to someone else. I dumped the project and opened a new one, imported the footage and repeated the same process and now it works. It seems like it was some sort of software/QT hangup, because I had checked all of my prefs and restarted a couple of times. I guess it’s a good thing that I tried the color correct before editing the whole piece.
