I have a brick wall made up of many shapes like the one posted below. I want each individual shape to build (with the brick shatter effect) which is working but the extruded edges look like crap because of the lines. Ideally I’d like them to be a solid color without the rectangles of the effect. Is this possible?

New problem – I was using custom shapes with the effect. When I change the color of the sides it forces the bricks to show up. Any way to avoid that or is it just how the effect works?

Alan, I think you are right. 1280×720 should always be progressive. The clip says it is progressive but looks interlaced when there is a lot of action – frustrating. I thought I had solved the issue using a short clip to test. I converted all my clips last night and when I got in today I realized the ugly (interlace looking) lines are still there. Sucky. I think I’m screwed as I’ve tried about every combo possible in compressor.

Any other suggestions are welcomed but I think it is what it is.

I received the footage on a external hard drive so I’m assuming the person just pulled the footage directly off the camera (from it’s internal flash memory) So, I don’t think any transcoding went down. It might of been a user error with the settings inside the camera.

The settings of my original footage:
Quicktime H264, 1280×720, 29.97, Square pixels, field dominance: none (yet the footage has those heavy interlace lines)

The settings after I converted in compressor:
Quicktime Prores, 1280×720, 29.97, Square pixels, field dominance: I now see that compressor changed my field dominance around all wonky – it’s not suppose to adjust anything but the codec. But when I re-converted the h264 to Prores once again I’m still getting the same interlacing lines even though it says no field dominance.

As you can tell, I’m shining a turd on this one, cutting around some crappy camera work. Even though the footage isn’t perfect I’m hoping to get it in a good place especially starting with the interlacing issues.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions but I’m aware that I may be out of luck.

Yea, the footage is indeed HD. I am sending out to a broadcast monitor which does look a little better but not how it should look. Is there a way to fix the reversed field dominance? It’s annoying because most of the clips are lower but a few clips are upper too. I’m not sure how they pulled that off when filming.

The video is being made for the web. I’ll try using compressor to deinterlace feature to see if I get better results.
