I didn’t want to do the uninstalling and all of that. It never seems like those types of solutions ever actually figure out WHAT went wrong. Anyway, I just had the intuition that maybe something was inconsistent between and by figuring out what, I fixed the crashing problem!

Here’s what I did.

Since my project has used my own media as well as video converted from .avi (movie clip info) I saw that a lot of my fps’s were not matching. Some of the converted stuff was at 24fps.

I simply changed it in vegas to always be at 29.97 in every clip.

Rendered at the same fps.

No crashes!!! Wahooo!

When I was researching for my system it seemed like a high-end graphics card was not of utmost importance. It was the one element I went non-top of the line with. But what this thread tells me is that company, at least, matters quite a bit. I would happily research and install a new graphics card if I could get rid of these problems, but I’m not completely sure what to go with. It seems like high-end graphics cards are marketed to gamers and that video editing is not really much of a priority. However, if the graphics cards that gamers get are also really excellent at not creating conflicts, problems, and nuisance, then it seems quite worth it to go for the high end. Or would mid-range gamer graphics card be good enough?

Any recommendations? I’m running:
