Thanks. Actually it wasn’t a ‘paid’ job thankfully. It was one of those “if it comes out okay, we’ll talk”. Would have been some music vids for You Tube and the like.

Actually after I got home and the stuff into the timeline, I did what I should have done first. Read the manuals.

Oh it was my fault and now I know what I did so the nice part is I’ll never do that again! ha ha

Gives me a chance to try all of my Audio FX’s just to see what they do though. So I’m really not in any trouble. Nothing gained, nothing lost except for a few upset people, myself being #1.

Oh well? as I wouldn’t have enough to do watching the camera, nNovia hard drive recorder and now the Audio. But you got to always monitor the audio anyway. Already have a set of Sony studio monitor headphones from my deposition work.

Yes the receiving camera would be locked down on the tripod. But also is the issue of cost for a wireless system that would just plug into their mixer. I have an older Azden 100UPR which may not be legal after they (FCC) changes the frequencies. But that has only 1/8 mini plugs and is for a Lav.

What would I look (Google) for on a transmitter with XLR line in?

Ummm you don’t have any of your audio wires crosing electrical wires at 90º do you? That’ll cause a 60 cycle hum for sure.

I do legal video work. Used a Sure M2367 mixer. 4 Sure lavs in (XLR) XLR out to my DSR-250. Had the camera set to -12db and the limiter on the mixer on and never had any problems with the audio.

My camera always ran on Anton Bauer Hytron 140 batteries and the mixer in my gator case through a power conditioner out to a wall plug. The lawyers blackberrys never even caused me problems.

Have you checked your cables? You could have a bad plug. But like mentioned above you really need to have the mixer and camera audio set right.

Oh! that quip to Ty was just a hello. I’ve known him a long time. Thanks for your reply. Blackberry interference? HA! I’m certified for Legal Deposition so I know all about those ha ha.

Anyway Possible drop-outs was one of my thoughts/concerns. I suppose I’m better off just hooking up my Marantz PDM 660 to the mixer and recording PCM out that way. I’m considering replacing the Marantz with something that records to SD/SDHC cards and not as much in the menu area anyway. Or just booming my Rhode NT’3’s around the stage and still going with the digital recorder on stage.

Problem was I didn’t want to string cables down the dance floor. Don’t think I’m going to shoot it with my DSR-250 anyway as I got a Panny HPX-170 coming. I just needed to get good audio of the music and the wireless thing was a suggestion by the producer friend of mine.

I plan to have the main camera sort of fixed either on a tripod or small crane and a small HD hand-held walking around for close-ups.

So I guess the best way would be the digital audio recorder right on-stage then? Just have to monitor the CF card. I won’t record MP3. too hard to match to the video due to the minute lossness of MP3. I prefer just to go PCM out.

Juat a point of note here. I was/am using Vegas 8 Pro and had to collaborate on a project with a fellow who was Final Cut Pro.

We tried everything EDL, AAF, XML Nothing worked! FCP uses an XMF or FCP.

I finally had to get a MacBook pro and Final Cut Express which did work after he upgraded to Studio 2. Then I got more proficient and needed some features that FCE didn’t have so I also got Studio 2.

So if someone does figure out a way, let me know as well because it don’t work.

I’ll be upgrading all my computers to Mac’s soon with a Mac Pro for my editing computer plus maybe an iMAC for my internet computer, but I’ll also use Boot Camp, install XP and keep my Vegas. I’ll never get rid of Vegas!!!
