Unless I mis-understand what you said here, the original EXIF data from a digital still is lost if you alter the photo in any way. I always make a copy before doing any work on a photo. Some contests and legal photography requires the original EXIF data.
If I’m doing a video that requires the original shoot date I use a date-time stamp directly on the video. Otherwise I have a log in Excel showing clip name and original time and date of the shoot.
Your original clip is never lost unless you delete it from the HD

You can do it with a $3 computer mic plugged into your sound card. Alternatively you can get the mic that was made for VO work, an AT2020 for $100 or less on the internet.

You won’t be able to open it again in V5 though. What I did when upgrading from 4 to 5 was to give the project a slightly different name. ie: save-as veggieV6.veg. Then if something goes wrong you still have the original version 5 copy minus any changes you made in v6.
At least that way you can be sure of what you want to do.

You did not offend me.I just gave you my position on the subject since you brought it up. I’m here to learn and hopefully maybe help someone else. If it weren’t for the Creative Cow.net, I would not have learned as much as I have over the years. Here’s where I learned my video editing at the Vegas Forum.
Don’t worry. I thank you for your comments. Actually I should have thought to ask the principle at our initial meeting Friday evening but it completely slipped my mind. It hit me on the way home so at least my brain is working. HA!

I don’t need the job. I’m doing my brother a favor as he did a video last year for them. There’s no money as this gal just recently bought the dance school. She wanted to provide a DVD to the parents of the students for a niminal fee to cover the expenses.
I’m very concerned about copyright and violations or I wouldn’t have posted this thread. There’s a chance that music is public domain or she has a license. I need to talk to her about that yet.
I have produced 3 DVD’s with a 4th currently in post. All the music is licensed (buy-out) from Sonic Fire Pro, Music to Hues and Opuss. I have the right to use this music in my productions but I doubt if my license includes any preformance premissions. I do have broadcast license to use and I make a cue sheet if my stuff is ever broadcast.
I really appreciate your finding that thread for me as it’s invaluable to me and quite interesting.

Also what size DVD do you have set in DVDA preferences? I got over 2 hours of video including main menu and scene selection and a first play.
As Ed said above. With that long a video, render to NTSC AVI and let DVDA render it. Just make sure the “fit to DVD” box is checked. That’s one of the things I love about DVDA.

They work good. they’ll pick up everyone at the table. Long table? Use 2. Cannon CLR’s? Don’t know Cannon but they have standard XLR’s and plug into my PDM660

When I got my Marantz PDM660, it came with 2 boundry mic’s. Those are absolutely great for exactly your purpose. Recording a conference at a table.

Normally my V5 gets a little choppy if I have transistions or FX applied to a clip or part of a clip. I usually just select the portion and selective prerender only that portion if I need to have a good preview. Doesn’t take much time at all to do that.
