I’m new at this forum. Usually I live at the Vegas or Pro Audio forum but couldn’t help noticing this post.

I use it all the time to send large video files and you could send the entire 2gb file in 1 piece. Although it may take all day to download, I’ve never had any problems with that service.

It’s free for smaller files but joining or paying a 1 time fee for a large files may be worth it.

I send short clips to a friend in China all the time.

I recently spent a lot of time researching cameras because I had to get a new one for something. First question. Will you be lookiing for an HD camera or SD.

I’m partial to Sony’s, having had a VX2000 for 4 years now and no problems and takes some banging around, however I do have a pelican case for it. Lot’s of field work run-n-gun stuff both here and in China.

For HD, unless you can afford one of those Panasonic P2’s There’s some posts here I believe on the Sonys V1U or Z1u. DSE’s written a lot on them. For just SD work, I’d personally go for the PD170 or the prosumer version the VX2100.

Personally, I think the Sonys are sharper and do better in low light than the Canons. I just bought a Sony DSR-250 but for shooting in China, I think my VX2000 is lighter and easier to handle. ha ha

Actually for me it made no difference but I wasn’t into HD yet. Get Pro if you can but my editing machine has XP-Home and it still flies through editing and rendering.

Actually that file came in a zip file with a test kit from Neat Video. It’s suppposed to be a file that goes with the demo version of their video noise remover.

I’m not sure if I’m on the right track here but I did something like this once and what I did was to have each chapter as a seperate ‘movie’ Then I had the choice to loop each seperate video. This was, however, in my multimedia program and not in DVDA. I then added a button to “exit-Loop” or a “play-through”

I wonder if you couldn’t do something like that in DVDA?

That’s what I’m thinking also. I got the Vegas demo and DL’d the manual and quick start PDF’s. After looking at some of the samples I might even buy it before I try it 😉

A few of the sample photos of clips showed exactly what I’m encountering all the time. I had a nice digital 8 as well as high-8’s in various projects before and even on the digital 8 I notice the grain which was one of the examples on the Neat site.

Kind of sounds like taking a noise print with Sony’s noise reduction.

Hi Mike

That Neat Video sure looks good. Up until now all I’ve been somewhat familiar with was the ADVC-300 because everyone says I need a TBC among other filters to clean up noisy VHS tapes.

For example I get a set of VHS tapes from a friend that he recorded some time ago and he wanted the videos on a DVD. I captured them through my ADVC-100 direct into Vegas. Seemed to be a lot of what I call static noise. Well I cut out some of the bad parts but I had a lot of problems trying to encode it and also in DVDA trying to make the DVD. Finally I did but in playing the DVD on a set-top player resulted in the DVD locking up.

I had read that a TBC would clean up some or all of the noise plus possible enhancing an old faded video, which I had believed my ADVC-100 didn’t have until I read the post above.

So now your suggestion gives me another tool to look at. They have a demo plugin for Vegas and it’s free fo9r non commercial use so I’ll have time to play with it. If it works good and I can figure it out ha ha, I’ll purchase it.

I didn’t know the ADVC-100 had a TBC in it. I thought that was the reason for the 300 as well as the enhancement controls. If that’s the case, tne you just saved me $500. I’d better do some more research then.
