October 26, 2009 at 3:40 am in reply to: SxS Drivers Update in September for Snow Leopard.I was surprised to find no posts in response to mine about the Snow Leopard SxS driver that works without crashing the Mac OS, especially after the many requests for info. Makes me wonder if what I found is as useful as I thought it was. Seemed to me like it was a breakthrough.
Well, here’s another one that seems like a breakthrough. I was faced with either reinstalling Leopard and removing Snow Leopard and reinstalling FCP and everything else back on the Mac or waiting for Sony to kick out an XDCAM Transfer that works with Snow Leopard.
I found another way to get my EX1 clips into FCP7 and it works on Snow Leopard. I found, downloaded and installed the Sony Log and Transfer plug-in (PDZK-LT1).
Download from here:
https://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/micro-xdcamexsite/resource.downloads.bbsccms-assets-micro-xdcamex-downloads-LogTransferUtilityAppleFCP.shtmlI plugged the EX1 into the Mac via USB cable (will try inserting an SxS card into the MacBook Pro later), got in FCP7, clicked on Log and Transfer and it automatically found the SxS card clips. I transferred them into a new FCP project and all is wonderful.
I also found a great Sony EX1/FCP workflow doc here:

September 24, 2009 at 3:30 am in reply to: SxS Drivers Update in September for Snow Leopard.I searched in this forum and did not find a reference to the new driver that makes SxS work with Snow Leopard 10.6.1 so I thought this post would be useful.
https://www.sony.ca/promedia/drivers.htm
Text from Sony site:
Download (Mac)
•Filename: SxS_Device_Driver_v1045050.dmg
•File Size 265KB
Recommended Macintosh OS environment
Mac OS X v10.4 (v10.4.9)
Mac OS X v10.5 (v10.5.0 or later)
Mac OS X v10.6 (v10.6.0 or later)I downloaded, installed and BAM my previously crashing Macbook Pro now works with the SxS cards. XDCAM EX Clip Browser works however the XDCAM Transfer has an error as previously documented.

I get 28 minutes per 8 GB. So 32 GB holds 112 minutes of HQ footage.

March 22, 2009 at 11:04 pm in reply to: How to record, download then delete files on SxS in a MacThanks! I have not checked in this forum for a year and a lot has happened in the memory world. I spent the last several hours reading up on the whole MxR, KxS, MxM, etc. thing and I got a new download of the Clip Browser. Both are very helpful.

Who said I was reasoning?
Maybe if Sony did a little better job fully explaining what they have on the website, I and others would know what to download and why.
But in any case thanks for your info, I shall give HD422 a try.

There is no XDCAM Transfer version 2.7 that is intended for the EX1.
Version 2.7 is for HD422. The latest version for EX1 is 2.51.
I had the exact same problem, duplicates all the time, very irritating. I have some faith in the FC 6.0.3 fixing it comment as I have not seen dups for a while.

May 6, 2008 at 1:51 pm in reply to: Insufficient Disk Space when importing in XD TransferI had this same exact error message and solved it by updating my XDCAM Transfer software. Somehow I had ver 2.1 and needed 2.5 or whatever the latest was on the Sony website.

This is the one i bought:
https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280214891057I read somewhere, might have been here, that there are two types of Expresscard readers, those with USB only channel and those with full Expresscard channel. The Sony reader has full support, mine has only USB support. I am pretty familiar with PC tech but this makes little sense to me.

I’m glad i only spent $7 for this USB/Expresscard34 adapter becasue it doesn’t work.

I ordered one off eBay for $7. We’ll see if it works at all or kills the SxS card.
Search for “USB ExpressCard/34”
