I joined this forum yesterday so i don’t know if anyone reads these older posts but i have a question about the transfer process.

Would someone please tell me why Sony puts a .mp4 ‘wrapper’ around each .mov clip? What is that for? Seems that it only complicates things by having to be stripped off by XDCAM Transfer. Imagine if you could simply drag and drop the clips in .mov format. I have read many articles about the EX1 and not found an answer to this mystery.

A friend with an HVX200 kids me about how FCP supports DVCHD natively from the P2 cards with no ‘stripping’.

So far I have shot about 70 clips almost all in daylight outside. On one clip shot in my living room at night, at the begining for about 3 seconds I saw the exact same effect you desribe. Vertical ripples moving horzontally from right to left. But only on one 30 second clip. Still it really made me wonder what the heck had happened.

Guess I could remove and rotate the eye cup and cut out a slot for the Diopter adjustment.

    Thanks!

Interesting. I just got a new Macbook Pro, FCP and an EX1. I am new to all of it. I imported 57 clips via XDCAM Transfer to FCP and had duplicates but I thought it was from not knowing what I was doing and having had trouble with a wrong version of XDCAM Transfer. Are you saying that if I import 11 clips, there will be at least one duplicate? Is FCP that screwy?

When I click on a duplicate clip to delete, the clip above my click highlights! I have not been able to get the dups clicked on and deleted. Has anyone else seen this?

  • Sounds like you are getting close to a solution.

For what it’s worth, i spent two days screwing around in FCP and XDCAM Transfer on my new Macbook Pro all because i somehow downloaded an old version of XDCAM Transfer from the Sony web site. I had ver 2.1 which made FCP report an error about insuficient disk space. I finally found and downloaded ver 2.5 and eveything worked just fine. I know this is not your same problem but you listed XDCAM Transfer but no version. If yours is ver 2.5 then this tidbit won’t help.
