Thats great to hear, thank you so much for replying.

Can I ask, how long have you had the system for? And what codec do you mainly work with?

    Hi Bob,

Sorry if you’ve already answered this, but just to clarify ….

I currently have a Kona LHi (which I think is just PCI, not even PCIe) – will I need to upgrade to at least a Kona 3 to be able to use it with the new Mac Pro, or is there a way around this? Can I connect via the Magna Thunderbolt Expansion unit?

This is quite technical for me, but I’m slowly getting my head around it 🙂

    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply, Rafael.

I would’ve thought that as that is the case, I could’ve transcoded to the closest possible resolution – being 2k if that is the maximum supported. I suppose its less processor intensive to transcode to multiples of 4k HD, which would result in 1920×1080.

If anyone can confirm this, or has any other ideas, I’d love to hear.

    Many thanks.

  • You kinda have to do it manually – but there are a few shortcuts to make it quicker (depending on how your keyboard is set up).

Match frame the video clip by selecting it and pressing F – this will bring it up into the view with your in and out points. On the left hand side of the timeline, there are the track patches which determines which track your clip will land on – make sure the patch is set to the track your audio is to land on (it should be closed together like a jigsaw). I would lock the video tracks or unpatch them so you dont bring in new video. Then, with the playhead positioned at the start of the clip on the timeline, click on the viewer to select it and hit F10 (shortcut for overwrite edit). This will bring in the audio related to that piece of video.

Writing it down makes it look a lot more complicated than it actually is. Give it a few goes, you’ll get the hang of it and it’ll save you heaps of time : )
