This is my 6th (or 7th?) NAB but this the first time that I’m attending “exhibits only”. Last year I felt like all of my time was spent at the Post Production World Conference and I didn’t have time to explore the floor. I found some events that I’d like to attend in the Post Pit at https://www.nabshow.com/2010/education/post_pit.asp and I believe that they are free to all. I’m also attending a few vendor-sponsored events.
I’m kind of a jack-of-all-trades in that I script, shoot, edit, stream, duplicate, etc. But, I’m more a content creator than a tech-head. Like Terry and so many others, we’re in the process of a HD and tapeless transition. Most of our “parts” have been ordered but I’m looking to make sense of a comprehensive tapeless workflow and all it entails…and to explore what others are doing to achieve this. We just received our new JVC HD-Pro last week and we’re getting our AVID upgraded at the end of the month…. around the time that our remote switcher (and all its parts) arrives.
I plan to attend the Creative Cow event on the 12th and I would love to talk with others in the same boat… or anybody who has successfully made this transition… esp people from small production houses or university production houses who are willing to talk the art, discuss what has worked, and explain the parts. Please let me know of any meet-ups, forums, events.
    Thanks!
    Ali

We’re still standard definition but I’ve brought it in as both 2:1 and DV50. In fact, I’ve even grouped together clips of different resolusions and it’s worked fine. The only problem I’ve had is mastering to tape in which I’ve had to mix down to the lower resolution to avoid underuns. Hope that helps.

I can’t import into Sorenson either. I can only “send to”.

Rather than importing into Sorenson, have you tried “sending to encoding”? If not, start in composer. In your bin, click on your timeline (and make sure that you have in/out points so that all ttracks are highlighted. Also make sure that your indicator is at the start of your time line.)

Okay, so to R click on your project and “sent to encoding”. Sorenson should appear as an option. Click on it. Sorenson should automatically open. Hope it works.

Nice work! I was immediately drawn into the story and images. Truly believable! As a documentary maker, I did not even notice your edits (deepest compliment). I am deeply disturbed over the power of this medium! Congratulations on a job well done.
