Thank you man , yeah for some weird reason just 1 week or so after I made this post , somehow the rendering issue stopped & I was able to render my projects all the way to 100% when I logged back on my PC the next morning. Lol I’m not sure what I possibly did to fix it but I’m sure I messed with some option settings when I wasn’t really meaning to haha. I used Sony Vegas Pro 11 also ..AMD 8 core/ 16GB RAM / Nvidia GTX 560 OC / 1100 PSU / ASUS M5A990FX 😀

Hey man I was wondering if you could send me a email to Alexz512@yahoo.com? I’ve been trying to fix my rendering issue for over a month now, the same rendering issue you were running into. You’re method out of everyone else finally sounds like a solution to fix this madness! I would REALLY appreciate this soooo much soo much haha ^__^

What goes black? The preview window or the whole screen? If it’s the Preview Window then your graphics card may be the issue.
A: Yes the Project Preview Window aka the window you look at inside Sony Vegas when editing you’re video, goes black at a certain % when rendering but the counter will keep ticking down for when the project will be complete. NOTE: the % will not increase in numbers but remains the same when the rendering issue happens & the preview window goes black. So in that case for the screen going black could be due to my graphics card wearing out which would be expected & the rendering getting stuck at a certain percent could be due to a driver issue. I posted my question below though to your following post however just in case .I seriously doubt the processor is at fault. Most likely there is a driver problem.
Q: Are you referring the rendering issue could be due to a driver issue? -
It is very possible to get a graphics card for both gaming & video editing , heres a link to my account of the work I’ve done with editing & gaming with just a simple outdated ATI 3450 graphics card https://www.youtube.com/user/AxxoProductions . The screen goes black in the project preview window, where else is a screen going to go black inside Sony Vegas???? (bonks on the head) . Yes my PC has been able to edit with Sony Vegas Pro 9 & Sony Vegas Pro 10 for almost 2 straight years until just 3 weeks ago when the rendering issue started coming into play. I was currently using Sony Vegas Pro 10 at the time when the rendering issue happened, I thought by upgrading to Sony Vegas Pro 11 would fix the rendering issue but the rendering issue still stayed the same no matter which version of Sony Vegas Pro I would switch to. I believe though that switching to Windows 7,upgrading my graphics card ,power supply & upgrading to more RAM would possibly fix the problem, if not then its most likely my processor.
This answer however>>> “The hard-disk usage *will* fluctuate by a few Gb from day to day because of all the temporary files that most programs create and delete. In Vegas you need approximately 2X your project size in the %TEMP% folder.” Is the correct answer I was looking for. So thank you for that 😉

Vista has to be the second-worst Windows O/S that Microsoft ever released. Windows 7 is by far the best.
A: It’s confirmed I’m switching to Windows 7 later this week then.[Axxo Shuffler] ” Drives are OS(C:) 280/450GB (tho the memory keeps spiking up and down which is weird) . Recovery(D:) 7.94/14.9GB”
Partitions are not drives. If I read you right then you have only one hard disk. What do you mean that “memory spikes up and down”? Memory has nothing to do with your hard disk drives.
A:Rephrasing that question, the hard disk drives Gigs keeps spiking up , like for example. One day I log on my PC and the memory is at 305/450GB on my OS(C:), then the next day its back down to 270/450GB.[Axxo Shuffler] “upgrading to a new AMD 6900s graphics card soon”
Why? AMD graphics don’t offer CUDA, and Vegas and all plug-ins will want to see CUDA cores. Besides, I’ve nothing but problems with ATI drivers so I can’t recommend anything from ATI.
A: I wanted to upgrade to a AMD 6950 for gaming. Not big on graphics cards so I’m not really sure what to look for when it comes to a graphics card that’s excellent for both gaming & video editing.[Axxo Shuffler] ” but I don’t think my system in general is effecting Sony Vegas cause I’ve been able to use Vegas pro 9/10 for almost 2 years”
See reply #3 above…. Vegas 11 is a major rewrite of the code and it may be asking your PC for something Vegas 9&10 never did.
A: That may be true , however the rendering issue has only been occurring for the past 3 weeks now & the rendering issue also occurred on Vegas Pro 10 as well. Right before I switched to Vegas Pro 11 that is .Back to the original question….
“except when I render a video clip that is 13+ minutes, it will freeze at either 54 or 83%. The screen goes black but the counter keeps ticking when the video will be done, which makes no sense”
Well, which is it? Does it freeze or keep running with a black screen? Suggestions depend on which is happening. I had one system that did something like this for no apparent reason. The screens would go black for 10-seconds and come back on as if everything was normal. The problem went away when I pulled the ATI Radeon card and installed an nVidia GeForce video card (anticipating the need for CUDA cores in Vegas).
A: When the rendering issue happens, the video I’ve edited will go black at either 54 or 83%.Sony Vegas Pro 11 will keep running & the counter for when the project will be done rendering will keep ticking down.

The specs of my system are – Windows Vista SP2 Home Premium 64bitOS 4GB RAM//ATI 3450 graphics/Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo E7300 2.6GHz/ standard factory PSU. Drives are OS(C:) 280/450GB (tho the memory keeps spiking up and down which is weird) . Recovery(D:) 7.94/14.9GB . 2TB External only 15% used. Note that my Adobe After Effects CS5.5/Photoshop & all other editing programs work fine, however I am upgrading to a new AMD 6900s graphics card soon with a 5-1k power supply when christmas bonus check comes in . I need to also upgrade from 4GB of RAM to 8GB or 12GB of RAM and sometime in the near future switch from vista to Windows 7. I’m very well aware what I need to upgrade but I don’t think my system in general is effecting Sony Vegas cause I’ve been able to use Vegas pro 9/10 for almost 2 years..but yeah hope this helps of figuring out what it could be , I really appreciate you’re feedback & the time your taking 🙂

Thank you for the tips man :). I dislike how unstable vegas pro 11 / 10 are its just insane & very frustrating cause my Adobe After Effects CS5.5 with Twitch Plug-in / action essentials 2, Photoshop CS5.1, film burns all work perfectly smooth . Is Sony just like rushing their work ? It seems like they don’t even care to review over the major glitches in sony vegas in general ..It’s just retarded for something that cost 600 friggin bucks and you think it would top notch for a price that I could get making a custom PC! Lol, I have however tried that method buuut I am looking more for a solution that can fix the sony vegas pro 11 for good & not have to do a whole bunch of back bending just to edit a new project each time =( .

Hello I am having three issues with Sony Vegas Pro 11, when I edit my videos I noticed that vegas will freeze around 12-25k frame rates & vegas will give me a error such as “Vegas stopped responding”.that’s the error message I get within vegas before I manually shut down the program . Also when rendering my projects sometimes, I’ll edit a 14 min clip & the project will stop at around 50% rendering, then the screen goes black but the counter keeps ticking for when the rendering project will be done ? Last but least, vegas is using way to much memory now . I made a dance video that was 2 minutes of length & used 610MB!??! I made a video that was 3:59 length with sony vegas pro 9 back in the summer of 2011 with more effects / editing & the file came out to be only 164MB??? How is that possible??? PLEASE I am in dire help with these issues.. I’m running Windows Vista SP2 4GB Ram with 2TB external Dell studio 540 intel core2 Duo 64Bit OS..I used 64Bit version of Sony Vegas Pro 9 & am using the 64Bit version for Sony Vegas Pro 11 now. Any help on resolving these 3 main issues would be GREATLY appreciated ! 🙂
