Perhaps you could shed some light on something else which really baffles me. When I stop a video that’s being edited, the preview image is usually either blurred or exhibiting stripes, depending on the de-interlace settings. Any grab I take at this stage exhibits the same blur or stripes. And yet on the video track itself the stills representing the frames are crystal clear, as are the images in the trimmer. Unfortunately, I can’t grab either of the good images and have to make do with the preview image, even though it is clear that a better version exists underneath.
Any suggestions as to how I can get sharp grabs?

Thanks, John. Looks like the cost of a new box will have to be added to the cost of the new Handycam and the new Vegas. Would have been good if the hardware specs with Vegas carried a warning to the effect that a LOT more grunt is required for HD. Cheers AV
