  • [Simon Reichel] ” though I’m not sure what you’re saying with “media start of each clip is Sequence in when you perform the edit”.”

if you look at the bin as sorted by the media start column

the first frame of any clip is timecode media start of that media clip

so in your sequence…your MARK IN timecode (in point) for each edit would be equal to the MEDIA start timecode of the clip.

that way your events in your sequence as edited would align with time of day when edited to the sequence, and gapping accordingly where there was nothing recorded.

    does that help?

I agree, with some scripting or a utility to edit XML could be done pretty easily.

  • So you’re asking about…

assembling video and separate audio clips to a master sequence where media start of each clip is Sequence in when you perform the edit

each with their own media start times…

so you’ll end up with a sequence with a lot of gaps just due to the stop downs in the shooting and recording process

and the stop downs between the video and auxiliary audio won’t match…so the gaps won’t align.

do I understand the problem correctly?

I’m not sure about automating to sequence at matching media start.

However purely from an organizational stand point…

it might be helpful to copy and paste all the audio and video in a single bin…then sort that bin by media start…

at the very least you can get the general order in which the elements ought to occur and you can see where the overlap between your video and audio events coincide.

I’d probably then go ahead and cut in the video 1st (with it’s corresponding audio where it’s available)

then go back and cut in the aux audio on a separate track.

one problem I can predict is that I’m sur they probably each set the “time of day” manually in each device manually at the start of the shoot. so audio and video may not match exactly, even when the TOD timecode does. remember though, once you figure out the offset…all you aux audio clips can be selected and shifted by that equal amount (assuming they are running by the same frame rates)…

    I know this isn’t much help….

but at the moment it’s what I could come up with….

    I’ll keep thinking….

    Hi…

ingesting thru Prelude would be the best bet here I’d think…

this will allow you to look at the source file..

select and flip to a new file on the way in.

Set the Premiere Pro Project File to Read ONLY only the server (library)

editors can pull the project file (small PPro Project file…not the bulky media) local and set permission to write…

that way nobody can be writing over the master…

    only their local copy.

would still force ppl to communicate with each other prior to pushing local copy BACK to the server…or it’s someone’s job to coordinate the push back to the server.

Stay tuned to NAB…my bet is we’ll hear some more about this soon.

    hth,

  • If text made in PPro titler….you can’t move that to AE.

Photoshop as a source would be a better bet for that workflow.

  • Hi

if you create in and out points on a clip in the source viewer…

those are the in and out that currently reflected in the clip in the project panel….

so you set your in and out..

then drag the clip in the project panel to the new item icon (lower right of project panel)…

and a new sequence will be created using the clip with your current markings.

might want to rename it slightly as it will reflect the clip name in the sequence name….

    I agree….

I miss IN and duration or OUT and duration as quick ways to work.

or understood IN at playhead and just duration.

if the automated methods of sending things to AE don’t work…

you can always copy in PPro and paste into a comp in AE…

this will allow you to select the specific elements you need….

glad you didn’t have to resort to it in this case…

    cheers!
