With a sequence loaded into the source monitor…
click on the wrench icon in the source viewer….
choose “open sequence in timeline”
this will open a sequence tab with the name of the sequence followed by (source monitor)
this is what you are looking for…

Hi….
couple of suggestions….
1) After Effects has a detail preserving scale effect, might be worth a look.
2) if you are in control of the gfx….I’d go ahead and design at the destination resolution….in that case the only thing that’s losing quality is the grainy video and not the design elements.
As far as the aspect ratios not being the same are concerned…2 choices…pan and scan or crop…again…design at the final resolution means you get to choose…and even choose per shot…
How long is the project?
I think the workflow would be get the edit selects as a sequence cut and agreed upon in PPro…. as a sequence….at the destination resolution….
then import that sequence into After Effects and do your remaining work there….
your final will be one long movie file at the destination resolution….

OK….
so when you imported the file….
the CLIP NAMES in the project panel are .mp4
but if you show the media path they are linked to….they are actually attached to the .mov
This makes sense….as the clip name will inherit the initial file name on import….but the clip name is arbitrary….you can rename it manually….and relink to other media will not change the the clip name in the project panel…

Hi…
You might try changing the name of the .mp4 folder after making the clips off line to prevent PPro for accidentally “finding” the mp4 proxies.
Also….moving that mp4 folder so that it is at the same level or above the folder containing the hi res material may help as well.
Are you using the link media window?
Maybe disabling file extension in the media file properties would help.Alex Udell

May 13, 2016 at 4:50 pm in reply to: Export –> Import, FCPX To Premiere using XtoCC, how to prevent duplicated clips?Hi…
I’m not sure how to avoid it….
in the metadata display panel (accessed via the little hash mark menu in the project tab)
in the Premiere Pro schema (turndown)…
there are a couple of columns: video usage AND audio usage
if you enable those….
then sort the project panel or bin by those…
you can tell what objects are in use by the sequence you imported…
should be only 1 of the 2 of each object created…
you can safely delete the unused media without harming the sequence you just imported (as it will be linked to the other object)…

Hi Ludmil…
1) if you take a look at the thread I point at in the first response….this is addressed.
2) additionally, as Walter points out, if you import sequence revisions via Media Browser…it should avoid asset duplication.
points 1 and 2 work together: if you use the XMP tagging pref, the asset is more likely to be properly recognized as existing in the project by PPro.
The big point is that
1) pref should be enabled brefore importing any assets into a project (so they’ll get tagged)
2) 2 editors down’ work on the same project, but 2 projects using the same asset set.
A) import assets
B) dupe Project as editor B
c) import editor B’s work into A’s via Media BrowserAlex Udell

Hi…
Is the video embedded in some sort of web page or presentation?
if they just see it playing back in some sort of player in their desktop then the transition to a new format should be pretty painless..
if it’s a component of a designed content (power point, website, etc) then it becomes an authoring question…
does that help?

May 12, 2016 at 2:03 pm in reply to: Replacing audio after scenes edited. Workflow suggestion?Could you use the timeline search function to find (fins all) material from the same camera?
then copy and paste those to a sequence of their own.
in doing this…
they’ll retain their timeline positions in time…
then do the audio syncing in that sequence…
(one per camera)
then copy and paste from that sequence to the main edit….
it won’t be painless…but maybe less painful…

Are you asking what should they use for encoding?
Or how should they encode the video?
Some flavor of MP4 would be the most likely encoding type…
what to use?
Why not Adobe Media Encoder?
kind of depends on what the workflow is (volume, contributors)…
