Replacing audio after scenes edited. Workflow suggestion?
So here’s the situation. Cameras had a mix down of lavs and booms. There were 8-track wav files recorded separately with all the mics sorted separately.
For a variety of reasons, scenes were edited with the camera audio, and I am not going back and swapping in the 8-track wav files.
Normally I’d do this sort of syncing first, then edit. So doing this the other way around is proving to be a bit challenging. Looking for suggestions.
Right now my workflow has been to match frame the camera, copy the timecode. Use “merge clip” with the source clip and audio in bin. Paste the timecode on the merged clip in source window, then re-edit the audio. Tedious, and error prone.
Wondering if there’s some better workflow out there someone can recommend? Or some way to automate this for footage already in t?

Also remembering to clear in and out before merging footage has been problematic. I find myself merging and re-merging the same footage over and over and over.

Could you use the timeline search function to find (fins all) material from the same camera?
then copy and paste those to a sequence of their own.
in doing this…
they’ll retain their timeline positions in time…
then do the audio syncing in that sequence…
(one per camera)
then copy and paste from that sequence to the main edit….
it won’t be painless…but maybe less painful…
