You select a group of clips and choose Nest
and the clips are moved into a sub timeline for you?

No I was not aware of the CTRL key…
thanks for that…
I’d like a plot eye dropper in the curves tool so show me on each curve where whatever portion of the image you are sampling resides…
I’d also prefer more horizontal layout of the tools…
as there tends to be a lot of repetition of closing categories and scrolling the window to access everything….which on longer format projects starts to get tedious…

I too had been looking at this…I am implementing a workflow based around Bridge for our needs.
Though a bit manual…at the conclusion of a project, I move the assets from our SAN to a RAID protected Firewire volume, confirm the archived assets, remove the original off the raid.
Then I use Sorenson Squeeze to create a Proxy folder that mirrors the contents of archive volume in a compressed and Bridge/Network friendly Quicktime format. (this is based on watch folder and is drag and drop). I have to believe it woudn’t be hard to find an app or write a script that monitors the backup volume for newly copied assets to create the proxies.
Then we use Bridge to tag the files with appropriate metadata keywords.
This becomes searchable by any client running Bridge on the network.
I’m not sure about Timecode, as it is not necessary for our workflow based on keyword searches…and we are not looking to do partial restores of files. However I can see if video tape is your original library source how this might be important. I did look into seeing if there was some way to batch encode with Timecode burn in….but was unsuccessful at that level.
The other snafu was that the last time I looked, Adobe didn’t sell Bridge as a stand alone product, so the cheapest way to get it seemed to be to buy Soundbooth seats which include Bridge. Not sure if this has changed with CS4.

You may be right….
I may be thinking of the old D-Vision/edit* days.
Since they didn’t offer Lasso…
it was always tabbed tracks, plus I/O, plus Insert/Overwrite mode (extract vs lift), then Ctrl X for cut….
you could then paste the the removed section elsewhere on the timeline…. or on another timeline….

This brings up an intgeresting point….
Shouldn’t Lifting or extracting copy the lifted contents to the clipbaord?
The last time I tried it, I don’t think it did….but I mat have dobne something wrong….

Once you have cut the tracks at the bedinning and end…
you have to use the mouse to marquee (draw a selection box) around the section you want to lift or extract.
The in and out points alone will not do it….
If there are interspersed tracks you wish to leave unaffected…
remember to lock them priort to cutting them or lifting/extracting them…
Also you can use Shift + Delete to ripple delete the selected elements. (locked tracks will remain unaffected)

I find this amusing as I can remember when Adobe was a Mac only company.
Prior to Windows NT in late 90’s Adobe made no software for Windows.
Avid, too, started as a Mac only product. This, and the domination of the Mac early on in the Music industry with the early implementations of Midi Sequencing and Digial audio recording, and the Mac’s domination of the Desktop publishing (yes I’m talking about paper… ;^) ) are why so many people today still will speak of the Mac as the artists computer….which seems pretty irellevant at this point.
But it is very interesting how the history of our industry lacks permanance…
