Hi,
Are each of the audio tracks in Premiere Project Stereo and does each contain material on only left or right?
or
In the Premiere Pro Mixer are the audio Tracks panned hard left and hard right?
Is your project intended to have split track audio (Audio passing discretely over the left and right channels?) or a stereo mix?
sometimes this is done for multi language tape masters…
but people forget to change things up for a DVD master…

A quick way to do the above is to simple rename the folder in which the media lives…
this effectively changes the path to the media and thus would force PPRO to ask you where media lives.

I agree, software companies should not make its PAYING customers Beta testers. They either need to scale back release feature sets to more comfortably fit the realistic deadlines that the market and their stock holders demand, adjust the release cycles to to fit feature sets, or hire more coders and testers to meet the exiting time frame and feature sets.
All that being said….as a rule of thumb, I always suggest that people not buy a “dot zero release.” This rarely seems to go smoothly. It is tempting however, because manufacturers offer such great incentives to upgrade when the new version is released. Maybe a buy and hold policy might work. Buy the upgrade to take advantage of the pricing, but hold it until the first couple point releases, then if possible, do a gradual deployment, so it can be tested within the work flow for potential work stoppages.
I feel you frustration, and am not excusing anything. Just making some suggestions for how to deal with it on you end.

Does 1.5 have the Automate to timeline function in the Project panel fly out (tiny arrow in right hand portion of window)…

I also suggest making a COPY of your project file and opening the copy not the original…
Once it is saved under CS4 you’d never be able to open it again in the old version.

OR
you need one for the system on C: to swap things in and out of RAM?

If an AE comp won’t play back…shouldn’t it have a red bar?
What’s yellow?
IS there a quick way to mark a clip with the work area?
Or is it still navigate and Ctrl + [ ] ?

Just a slight bit of levity: Boy they take that “no intermediate rendering” thing pretty seriously…they won’t even LET you render.

Just to note as well…
Matrox RT.X2 is PC only…
I have heard of ppl installing in a Mac and running under Bootcamp successfully, but it will not run under the Mac OS.
You can think of the Matrox line similar to the AJA and Black Magic in terms of them enabling I/O of non fire wire (or file based) based tape sources…
However, Matrox also supplies a lot of additional filters that leverage the CPU and graphics hardware (as well as some hardware on the Matrox itself) to perform many useful effects in real time or offer highly accelerated rendering.
We have have 9 Matrox systems here on a SAN and enjoy them a lot.
