Thank you All,
It turns out that all I had to do was go to “disk utility” and hit “repair permissions”. I’m not sure what that did, but now all apps work faster inc C4D. I have a pal who’s a mad mac man and he talked me through it. I’m letting you know so that if this happens again, you guys will know how simple it is to fix and can add it to your encyclopedic knowledge.
Thanks again for being there.

Thanks for the tip, but I’ve made no changes, and as I’m on a mac, haven’t installed any drivers. I was considering reinstalling R13, but then when the problem showed up in 12 as well…..
Any thoughts on what I could do to my mac to fix this as it seems to be a mac problem?….. The thought of lugging the 12 core off to a Genius bar fills me with dread.
Thanks again

Ah, I’m on 12.0
I see an update in my near future….. -
Yet again, I am so grateful for this forum. I’ve been pulling my hair out. Thank you – great fix.
One other question: When I hit the “include Sound” in my render settings then hit “Render to picture viewer” it says “Unable to write file”. When I then “make preview” and save said preview as a QT movie, the sound is not included.
Can you help with that? -
Oh FINALLY!
I knew it had to be in there somewhere.Once again, thank you sir!

To quote Sir Winston Churchill: “Crap”.
Thank you anyway though. I shall continue fudging it.One other question;
Is there some way to give attribute different types of spline to indevidual points within a spline? Often I’m trying to model something that starts with a curve, then hits a hard angel, then a curve etc. Thanks again for being such an incredible resource.

Hmmm, so there’s no way for a spot light to actually bounce off a mirror? Surely not.
Of course as soon as someone says, “it can’t be done”….. 🙂 -
Adam,
Thank you for that.
In that case, what would you suggest to create a beam of light bouncing back from a mirror? I’m in the middle of a production design for an arena tour where full colour lasers are to be used both reflecting off moving mirrors, and refracting through rotating lenses.
I have been able to fake it by using a very narrow cylinder as the beam and adding colour and glow, but I’m curious to know how to do it properly. Its all-too-easy to use the quick fix and become lazy…. -
Ho Hum, much as I thought. Thank you again for getting back to me so promptly.

Thank you Brian,
I’ve done that in the past, but I’m hoping to find some way of having a control point that I can affect via espresso to have “Drape Open” / “Drape Closed”. Manually moving all the belt points seems rather twentieth century.. 🙂
