  • Thanks Shane, pretty much the answer I was looking for. It’s a tough situation when you need tools for your trade and are in a tough spot to afford them. (Previously shot on my employer’s equipment). Sounds like LLC makes sense even though I’m an IC currently, if only for the (potential) additional consideration for a loan.

Bump again for any elaboration on track points as they apply here

Bumping for password unlock on the video…minor tweaks to default warp settings didn’t work–I always had weird artifacts etc no matter which setting I went with (usually stick with position/scale/rotation). Other thoughts on track point deletion?

Hmmmm–thanks for the help folks. Tried re-rendering graphics and a couple other troubleshooting steps, but it seems that where my playback was unbearably choppy was when I layed in a .png file. Over a layer of video it was unplayable–but when I removed it, presto I had useable playback. Not sure why a .png would do this to a timeline (I did have to scale it down around 75%), but I may replace the file with one that’s more accurate to my video size? Will post back if playback issues continue with other files…

  • Wanted to revive this thread now that the D7100 exists–seems like a definitive answer to the 7D, havnds down winning for photo work but very little info in how they compare in video. Any thoughts? I’m buying a DSLR video kit from scratch. I’m a producer/editor on snowsports events, and am buying a camera to provide support for my DPs–while they’re getting the goods I’d theoretically be able to produce interviews, shoot Broll, etc. Thoughts on either system? I pulled the trigger yesterday on a canon system, and am still sort of partial to it, but would be curious to hear any opinions on the Nikon offering.

Loving the Smartsound, definitely on the list for when we get some budget. No one’s got a music assembly tutorial though?

This. Would love to take a look at a timeline while someone is cutting up a track, just to give me some ideas. I have a really rudimentary understanding of 4-count beats etc and what I produce generally sounds OK to clients and viewers. Just want to see if I can step it up a notch. Occasionally I will use single drum hits/premade rises etc and am trying to incorporate those more as they are a really useful tool for blending all types of music.

  • Oh also I should mention that one of the reasons I nested many of the clips in the first place is that the audio was recorded extremely low–so I nested, then boosted the audio to get it past 12db. Currently I’m going back, un-nesting everything and applying a gain-boost filter instead. Think this may be the only solution unless anyone can help me out?

One of the pains of “de-nesting” everything is that I have to go back to the source clip, reload in/out points and pull back down into the sequence. Copying/pasting from the nested sequence pastes the ENTIRE source clip, so it’s kind of useless.

Again if anyone can offer better solutions please do, would be much appreciated. Thanks as always!

July 20, 2010 at 7:05 pm in reply to: Can’t select multiple layers!

I’m using Cs3…command and shift don’t work, either on the palette or the canvas. What I’m trying to do is use autostitch to combine a bunch of layers, so I don’t think the bin solution above will work. It sounds like I should be able to just shift click a few layers and go ahead and stitch. Hopefully there is a preference or a button somewhere I can just click off–this is a key part of photoshop and I don’t think a workaround would be satisfactory. Thanks
